Dread Edward "D.E." Hamit

Dread Edward "D.E." Hamit, Jr., age 72, of Farwell, Texas, passed away January 23, 2012, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
D. E. was born on September 25, 1939, to Dread Edward and Annie Adilene (Clark) Hammit in Stamford, Texas. He married Marilyn Diane Hudson on June 14, 1969, in Clovis, New Mexico. He was a Farwell, Texas resident since 1971 and worked for the City of Farwell as Water Superintendent for 30 years. D.E. was the Farwell Chamber of Commerce's "Man of the Year" in 2001. He was a member of Texico First Baptist Church in Texico, New Mexico.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hammit, of the home; nieces, Betty Hudson of Clovis, New Mexico and Carrie Heflin of Abilene, Texas; nephews, Harvey Tomlin of Shallowater, Texas, Chuckie Hammit of Roswell, New Mexico, Bobby Hammit of Clovis, New Mexico, Johnny Ray Hammit of Arizona, and Randy Hammit of Germany; brother in law, Harvey Hudson of Farmington, New Mexico; sister in law, Marie Tomlin of Clovis, New México; one great niece, Maria Hudson of Clovis, New Mexico and one great nephew, Ryan Hudson of Portales, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tommy Neal Hammit; and two brothers, Billy Hammit and Johnny Hammit.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012, at Texico First Baptist Church in Texico, New Mexico with Pastor Rob Hollis officiating Interment will follow at Sunset Terrace Cemetery in Farwell, Texas.
Casket Bearers are Harvey Hudson, Jimmy Mace, Ryan Hudson, Lonnie Downs, Chuckie Hammit, Bobby Hammit, Dave Mitchell and Joe Serbin.
