RICHARD DeGROFF Obituary

Richard E. De Groff, age 78, of Rotterdam, NY, formerly of Amsterdam, NY soars as an eagle to his home in heaven on Sunday, September 5, 2010 Born March 6, 1932 in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Sophie (Cyrul) DeGroff. Husband of the late Lillian Slezak. Also, predeceased by his brother Edward DeGroff. Richard is survived by his present wife, Jean (Carroll) De Groff; his sister Charlene De Groff of Amsterdam, NY; stepdaughter Patricia L. (Mark) Ash of Hinsdale, NY; Edward Carroll of Schenectady; sisters -in-law Carol (Larry) Anderson of Fort Meyers, FL, Irene Wagoner of Ballston Spa, Donna (Dick) Dingman of Schenectady; also two nephews, Jeffrey Pietro and Charles (Chris) Pietro, both of Amsterdam, NY. There will be no viewing or services at Richard's request. An anatomical gift is being made to Albany Medical College. The family would like to thank all the wonderful and caring people of the Community Hospice of Schenectady. People like you make this world a better place. Thanks also to Joyce, Pat and Ralph, whose kindness and caring brought great comfort to our family. Thanks to Dr. Thomas Goodman and the entire staff for all they did for Rick and Dr. Max Laguerra and staff. Memorial donations in Rich's name may be made to the Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St. , Schenectady, NY 12308.
