Gerald Dixon Obituary

Gerald L. "Jerry" Dixon A memorial service for Gerald L. "Jerry" Dixon, 64, of Lake Bluff, will be held at 3 p.m. today, at the Sportman's Club, Lake Bluff. Born Feb. 12, 1939, in Vincennes, Ind., the son of Guy and Alma Dixon, he passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at the VA Medical Center, North Chicago. Mr. Dixon was a 1947 graduate of Lincoln High School. He was an Army veteran having served as an MP and he was a member of the American Legion Post #109 in Vail, Ariz. Jerry was a former manager at several F.W. Woolworth and Ben Franklin variety stores and had been employed at the Silo Restaurant in Lake Bluff for the past 15 years. In addition, Jerry was a member of the Knollwood Sportsman's Club in Lake Bluff. He is survived by his sisters, Shirley (Ronald) Morningstar of Ypsilanti, Mich., Reba (William) Hall of Cambridge, Ohio and Mary Jo (John) Tussey of St. Francisville, Ill.; nieces, Julayne Hughes, Brenda Morningstar, Gail Kruger, Robin Gable, Lori Stoudt and Cheryl Winkles; nephews, Gary, Kevin and Philip Hall and Jeffrey Tussey; and 17 great-nieces and -nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of services today, at the club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jerry's memory may be made to the Knollwood Sportsman's Club, 17 Arcadia Road, Lake Bluff, IL 60044.
