KIRK GILOTH Obituary

Kirk Frederic Giloth, 77, of Mukilteo, WA, passed away Monday, January 25th, 2021. Kirk was born on November 24th, 1943 in Elmhurst, IL to Karl and Jeanne Giloth. He attended Glenbard High School in Glen Ellyn, IL and later graduated from the Kentucky Military Institute in Lyndon, KY in 1962. Kirk received his degree in History from Bradley University in 1968. On August 24th, 1968 he married Holly Jeffris Fischl. They raised two children, a son, Ian, and a daughter, Gretchen. Kirk joined Hallmark Cards that same year and worked his entire career there. He retired in 1998, moving first to Colorado and later to Seattle. Kirk spent the remainder of his retirement in Seattle doing the things he loved. Kirk had a passion for conservation and a fervent love of the outdoors. He was an avid fly fisherman who meticulously crafted his own flies. He made frequent trips throughout his retirement to Montana where he volunteered as a fishing guide. He felt particularly at home in Yellowstone National Park. When he was not spending his time outside, Kirk was also a consummate reader. He devoured books to fill his time during many rainy days in Seattle overlooking Puget Sound. Kirk was preceded in death by his father, Karl, and his mother, Jeanne. He is survived by his brother, Greg Giloth; his two children, Ian Giloth, and Gretchen Parkison; their spouses, Brenda Giloth and Gabriel Parkison; and his 5 grandchildren, Reid, Audrey, Emmett, Ewan, and Pippa. He was a loving father and grandfather and a devoted friend to those close to him. A private ceremony will be held in the future.
