Max Baslick Obituary

SUNBURY - Max E. Baslick, 73, of 150 White Oak Drive, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Williamsport Hospital.
He was born March 5, 1935, in Shamokin, a son of the late Max and Mary (Yankoskie) Baslick. On Nov. 1, 1958, he married the former Johanne Bolton, who survives.
Max was a 1953 graduate of Sunbury High School and served in the Navy during the Korean War.
He and his wife were the former owners of the Max E. Baslick Co., Sunbury.
He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Sunbury, and a member of the East End Hose Company, Sunbury, the Lost Creek Sportmen's Club and the Blaine Sportsmen's Club. He was a former captain of the Sunbury Fire Police.
Max loved hunting and fishing and traveled extensively for big game hunting and deep sea fishing in Florida. He cherished the time he spent with his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lorna J. and Mark Fisher of Shamokin Dam and Vera J. and John Robinson of Sunbury; one son, Max B. Baslick and companion, Caressa Compton, of Sunbury; three grandchildren, Jessica Landis and husband Brice of Selinsgrove, Nicole Fisher and Megan Fisher of Shamokin Dam; two great-grandchildren, Grace and Gavin; two sisters, Mary Longacre of Northumberland and Betty Schmidt of Danville; and one brother, Joseph Baslick of Northumberland.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Monica Catholic Church, Sunbury, with the Rev. William T. Haviland as celebrant.
Burial will be in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Max's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
