Lynn Merrill Obituary
Wilmington, DE and Cape Coral, FL - Lynn Merrill passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, December 10, 2018.
Lynn was born in Wilmington, DE. She attended Brandywine High School, and then went on to graduate from the University of Delaware. She began her career as a legal secretary at a local Wilmington law firm, and then went on to work in various capacities at DuPont for 33 years. Lynn worked in the legal and international customer service departments for many years, and then she moved into project management at DuPont Dow Elastomers where she enjoyed traveling to Europe and Asia. Lynn was an avid reader and competitive card player. Also a sun-lover, she thoroughly enjoyed days at the beach, sitting by the pool, and taking morning walks in her Florida neighborhood. Lynn was the life of the party, a huge Eagles fan, a compassionate friend, a devoted wife to Bobby, and a loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and John (Ralph) Collison and step-son, Christopher Merrill. Lynn is survived by her husband of 26 years, Bobby Merrill; her sister, Sue Wollard; her daughter, Carrie von Koch (Kurt) and granddaughters Emma, Olivia, Lexie and Katie; her stepson, Grant Merrill (Lisa) and grandchildren Lucy and Will; her nephew, Blaine Orth and niece, Carly Zych.
Lynn began an uphill battle with pancreatic cancer in early June, and new struggles seemed to present themselves every week. As in life, she tackled her cancer with strength and a can-do spirit.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 10-11am, Friday, January 18, 2019 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 where a service of thanksgiving and celebration for Lynn's life will be held at 11am. Interment will be at 1pm at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720 would be greatly appreciated. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.mccreryandharra.com
