F. Erickson Obituary
Art was born on May 9, 1925 in rural Madrid, Iowa, to Roy F. and Lelien (Watson) Erickson. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army from 1944 until he was honorably discharged in 1946. Art was very proud to have fought in the Battle of the Bulge. On January 19, 1947, he married Ida Mae Howell in Des Moines, Iowa and they made their home in rural Madrid. For 34 years, Art was employed as a Quality Control Inspector with John Deere, until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Blue Lodge Masons, Consistory, Shrine, V.F.W. Post 5060, the Garden Club and the Bridge Club.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 64 years, Ida Mae Erickson of Madrid; son, Philip (Linda) Erickson of Madrid; one brother, Raymond (Judy) Erickson of Oketa, KS; one sister, Genevieve Elson of Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law, Kathy Erickson of Madrid; brother-in-law, Richard White of Des Moines; two grandsons, Bill (Pixie) Erickson and Brad (Danyal) Erickson both of Polk City; five great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. Art was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, J. Fred Erickson; and one sister, Eileen White.
Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. on Thursday, January 13, at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Madrid V.F.W. Post 5060; Mercy Hospice of Johnston; or the American Cancer Society.

Dear Ida Mae,
My mom sent me Art's obituary. So many years have gone by since we lived next door to you but I have fond memorites of both of you. Riley passed away a few years ago at our home in Co. Ella lives down in Green Valley and we will be moving down by her later this year. May you and Phillip look back on many years of good memories. Patti (White) Giannasi
