I was saddened to hear of Brother Evans passing. He was so kind, understanding, and welcoming during those early years in El Paso. My heartfelt sympathy and love to Rita, Elaine, Ross and Marilyn...and the rest of the family. He will be missed.

Our Uncle Sterling was a kind and gentle man who represented the Evans family with dignity and humility. He possessed a noble presence. He was to us the last tie to our parents' generation and we will miss his kindly smile and sweet nature.

I took care of Mr Evans for years as his doctor. He was a wonderful person with grace and wisdom. Always had a smile despite his complicated medical illnesses. I am glad he was able to go for his last trip and enjoy his wonderful family. I will miss him and will always remember him when looking at pink roses what he used to bring from his yard to his visits.

While growing up, Brother and Sister Evans were always kind to me and were quick to offer a friendly smile. I currently own the home he and his lovely wife worked to build in the 1940s on Bird Avenue. I have lived in this home since 1979. As an avid DIYer, I think of them and do my best to honor the work they put into their first family home as I enjoy maintaining and restoring our home.

I was raised in a Ross Evans house on Vista del Monte. My parents were Bernice and Herbert Schwartz. In 1983 I bought a Ross Evans house (built by Willie Farah) in which I still live. Both houses were true blessings. I am so lucky to benefit from Ross's genius for most of my life. Rita and I graduated from high school in the same class.
One of my favorite memories involved a screened in back porch that had HUGE plate glass sliding doors into the house. I guess Mom kept those doors sparkling clean, because Ross walked right into and through them one day. Not a scratch on him.
My love and prayers to you all.

Mr. Evans (and I always called him Mr.) was the most honorable and honest builder who I ever had for a customer. His word truly was his bond. If there was any problem he would work with you to solve it. I knew him when I was in high school through his lovely daughters and other friends. He was an exemplary man who had a wonderful family. Congratulations on a job well done. My highest regards to all the family. Glenn Powers

Brother Evans was our neighbor in my childhood. He helped me with my father's home when Dad died.
His daughter, Elaine, was kind to my mother in her final years.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Evans family.
Sincerely,
Ed Wingo, Jr.
