Mary Rahn Obituary

Rahn, Mary H.

Mary H. Rahn, 93, of the town of Auburn, passed away on her birthday, Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lomira with her husband at her side.

She was born on September 24, 1920, in Ashford, the daughter of the late Emil and Mary (Cermach) Brath, and was a 1939 graduate of Campbellsport High School. On April 27, 1940, she was united in marriage to Steven Rahn at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Ashford. The couple farmed near Campbellsport and Mary was employed by the West Bend Company in West Bend.

Mary and Steve owned Steve and Mary's Bar in Kewaskum and later built the Amerahn Bar and Hall in Kewaskum with their daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Allen Amerling. The hall was a popular and favorite gathering place for many.

Mary and Steve traveled extensively throughout the United States, including Alaska, in their travel trailer. They also took their trailer through Canada, Mexico, Guatemala and the Baja. Mary hunted big game in British Columbia, Ontario, Idaho and Wyoming.

Mary was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. She was a good cook and seamstress and enjoyed playing sheepshead, dancing, fishing and loved being with people. Mary will fondly be remembered for her big smile and hearty laugh. She will be deeply missed by her husband, her family and by all who knew her.

Those Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 73 years, Steven; two daughters, Judy (Ray) Schrauth of Campbellsport and Judy and Ray's children, Bonnie (Dave) Kristan of Waunakee, Don (LuAnn) Schrauth of Lewistown, Montana and Beth (Tim) Pautsch of Fond du Lac; Jeanne (Allen) Amerling of Kewaskum and Jeanne and Allen's children, Scott (Tracy) Amerling of Kewaskum, Stephanie (John) Beisbier of Campbellsport, Cammie (Scott) Rosenthal and Craig (Mandy) Amerling both of Kewaskum; 16 great-grandchildren, Abe (Laura), Andy (Nikki) and Jessie McCarty, Nick (Emily) and Jon Gellings, Amanda and Heather Schrauth, Zach and Abby Amerling, Morgan, Evan and Sarah Beisbier, McKenzie and Sydney Rosenthal, Mason and Reid Amerling; two great-great-grandsons, Nolan and William McCarty; a sister-in-law, Georgianna Brath of Campbellsport, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by four brothers, George (Frances) Brath, Ray (Rosemary) Brath, Alphonse Brath and Michael Brath and two sisters, Paula (John) Fleischman and Betty (Sylvester) Jacak.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum with Father Edwin Kornath officiating. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday in parish cemetery.

The Rahn family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.

Memorials to the charity of one's choice are appreciated.

Mary was a wonderful lady, her laugh was infectious, and she was a true sportswoman. She made hunting season a better place for everyone. She will truly be missed.
