To the McIntyre Family,
It saddens me to learn of the passing of my fraternal brother Tom. I became aware of this by reading the Alumni Magazine from the University we attended.
Tom was a great leader and it does not surprise me that he rose as high as he did in the Brevard County School District.
On behalf of all of my other brothers of Phi Sigma Epsilon I pass on sincere condolences to The McIntyre family.
I remain.
Sincerely yours,
Craig Campbell

I just learned of Dr. McIntyre's passing!! I went to school at Southwest when he was there and he was one of the 'go to' administrators - as a student, he was one you could always talk to. His passing is a great loss to the education community and beyond. He will be missed.

Dear Mary & Boys,
I was truly shocked to hear of Tom's passing. Coach Mac gave me my first coaching opportunity when I started teaching at Melbourne High back in 1985. He taught me so much about teaching, coaching, and life. Mary, you and Tom sold me the first house I ever owned.
I will forever be grateful for all the great times and laughter I had with him and all the other fine men sitting in that tiny room we called a football office. Coach Mac helped shape the lives of many young people, both as a coach and teacher. He has always been one of my favorite people...and his legacy as an outstanding human being will remain with those of us who knew him for a long, long time.
May God's peace and blessings be with all of you!

Dearest Mary and Family,
I just recently heard about your beloved husband Tom's passing.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. I never had the pleasure of meeting him in all the years I shared working
with you at HRMC, but I often heard
you mention him and your boys in conversation and I knew in my heart
that they are all wonderful human beings just like you, Mary. I just wanted you to know that I am so saddened by this news and wanted
you to know.

Dr. Tom, I just found out this afternoon from a former fellow teacher of mine that you had very recently passed away! You gave me much good advice during our association in recent years, most notably being how to graciously deal with a health crisis that had caused my pre-mature retirement last year. Yes, you did indeed "get it through my thick head (and pride)" that one need not feel like a quitter because of bad health and subsequent decisions that have to be made. You were VERY patient with me during our talks in your office, and yes I AM back in very good health physically AND emotionally, just as you said I would be during our July 2007 meeting. Even though I am only 4 years younger, you were an IMMENSE influence in allowing me to become a much more mature individual. And yes, YOU yourself are certainly no quitter! I hope you realize that you became like a "big brother" to me during these past difficult times! I will be going up to Florida Memorial Gardens this afternoon to visit with you. May God and Blessed Mother Mary hold your family very close.

I was sadened to read the news in our area newspaper this morning. I went to Melbourne High School when Mr. McIntyre was still the principal. He was the kindest person, always smiling. I can't even express how happy I was when he came to our graduation in 2004, just because of his kindness, and the way he would interact with you, you could tell he cared. He will be missed greatly and I am so sorry for your loss. He will never be forgotten and you and you all are in my prayers.

Coach Mac,
Words could never express how great you really were. Time passes on but you will never be forgotten. You had touched so many lives in a such positive way. I took my daughter on a tour of Mel-Hi in July and at that time asked about you, and was sadden to hear you were in the hospital. My prayers went out, but prayers are not enough when GOD calls you home. Well coach take care up there and keep praying for us down here. You will truly be missed.

My sympathies to the Family, friends and associates of Dr. McIntyre. He was a staunch advocate for his students at Mel High when the Chamber began it's Academy programs. Without his leadership and commitment, students would not have had the opportunities afforded through this program. I am grateful for his concern and help during those years.

Coach McIntyre, as he will always be known to me, is simply one of the best men I have had the honor of knowing. The best teacher, mentor, leader and on many occasions to many of us best friend. The positive and lasting impact he had on the players he coached, the students he taught and the many others he came in contact with is evident with the outpouring of emotion here.
I am a better person because of Coach McIntyre, I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to have known him, and will remember him always. While saddened by his passing - I know we'll see him again, whistle in hand, hat on his head, wondering what took us so long and ready to teach us all once again.

Dear Mary, Sean, Eric, and Patrick,
We just heard about Tom's passing and were very saddened. We heard about Tom's battle with cancer shortly after John Luhn's passing from cancer last year on August 17,2007. We have been thinking of Tom often since then. West Melbourne has lost two awesome coaches! Mike always said that, win or lose, he always learned something positive from Tom on and off of the field to help him be a better coach. We cherish the many memories that we have of our boys growing up together thru school, sports, and scouting activities. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Coach McIntyre was my favorite math teacher! I use to babysit for Sean when he was a little, then I graduated and went on to have babys of my own. When I went to register my oldest son at Mel High I was so happy to see that Coach McIntyre was the principal there. I always told my son he better behave because Coach McIntyre was such a great influence in my life that he better not do anything to disappoint him! Well that said my son didn't act so great in school. He was always in trouble and got to know Coach McIntyre in a different way then I did. But since my son has graduated in 2003 he has grown to be an awesome person. He joined the Marines right out of high school and in his 4 years of being in the Marines he became a Sergeant! Then went on to get a great job at DRS. We were talking about Coach McIntyre and saying how proud he would be of Chad. When I told my son of his passing he was pretty upset because he said he wasn't so great in high school and wishes he could do it differently. My heart goes out to the McIntyre family. We will be praying for them and always know your husband and father was so loved and respected and will be terribly missed!!!

As a parent who had a son and daughter at Mel Hi in the 1980's, I appreciated how Tom conducted himself and served as a role model. We are fortunate to have had Tom as part of our lives. Please accept my sincere sympathy.

This is going to come out wrong to start with, but read it before you kill me for the next sentence...
Tom McIntyre was a great man indeed...I don't think that he had any friends in life. I don't mean that he was not 1 of the kindest men you will ever meet in your lifetime, what I mean is that everyone that has signed this guestbook, shown up at his wake, or will be at the funeral...everyone he has inspired or helped in his lifetime...they were all his FAMILY. I have known Tom since I was about 4 and started playing sports at Rodes Park, and from day 1 he showed me the kind of person that we all should strive to be. I don't think that 1 person he has touched in his lifetime will ever have anything bad to say about him, he was just that kind of man. Sadly I wasn't able to make it today due to being out of the state...but I will be at the church tomorrow, and I bet it will be a packed house. Tom is an amazing man, and as sad as I am for his passing, I know he is at peace knowing that all of us...his FAMILY...will continue to strive to be the kind of man he always was.
My whole hearted sympathy to you Mary, you are a very strong woman. Sean, Eric, and Pat...your father will be missed by all, take his legacy to heart and continue it.

Dear Mary, Sean, Eric and Patrick,
Amy and I have been praying for you and know just how wonderful Big Mac was. I have known Tom since a was playing for the West Melbourne Cowboys in the 70's and know just how much God has blessed him with genuine passion for his family as well as touching the lives of so many children in the education system.
I worked for Tom as the campus monitor at Mel-Hi when he was the principal and I was introduced to Amy Hoff (now Amy Gamerl) when she was the softball coach. Tom was so excited to hear that we were dating and we were married that next year. He was truly an inspiration to us and know that heaven truly has an angel.

Dear Mary, Patrick, Eric, and Sean,
Mary, you said it best. Tom always did what was right. Tom was one of "the good guys" to everyone that knew and loved him.
So many memories of Tom, but my favorite is the weekend before Southwest opened. Tom brought all three boys to school with him on the Sunday afternoon before the teachers arrived on Monday. Ya'll were so cute! Patrick was a toddler, and Tom and "his boys" helped move furniture into the science building.
He loved his work, his friends, but most of all he loved you his family.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mary and the boys,
I am so sorry for your loss. Coach McIntyre was a wonderful coach, teacher, mentor and friend. I had the pleasure of having him in all four of those capacities. He was my track coach at Mel-high, my supervisor during intern teaching at Rockledge and Mel-high, a mentor as a student of Mel-high and a friend outside of the the class. I have also had the pleasure of having Mary as a teacher at Florida Metropolitan University and still use want you taught me to this day in my own class at FMU, now Everest University. Our 25 year reunion is this weekend and it will definitely not be the same with out Coach McIntyre, as he has been to all of them. I always looked forward to seeing him. Tom McIntyre came into my life 28 years ago as my math teacher and then my softball coach. I had the privilege of playing softball for him for my entire high school career and was most proud to be his team captain during my senior year. Our families became close during that time as my father was the assistant softball coach and my mother took care of their beautiful boys while Tom and Mary were at work. That friendship has carried on through all these years. No other family has been a more steady presence in my life as the McIntyre family has been. Tom and Mary have been a part of every milestone event I've experienced to date: graduation, marriage, the birth of my son, the death of my father, awarding my son a ribbon at the county Science fair, even my 40th birthday. Coach Mac will be most especially missed as the class of '83 celebrates it's 25th Reunion this weekend. It will be such a bitter-sweet time as we say goodbye to one of the greatest men God put on this earth. Words cannot describe my grief, yet I feel so honored to have known and loved him for so many years. I'm most grateful that my son got to know the wonderful man who was such a huge influence in my life. May God grant comfort and peace upon Mary, Sean, Eric, and Patrick, as well as Tom's extended family. I love you, Coach Mac, and you will be missed more than you can know!

Dear Mary, Sean, Eric, and Patrick,
May God bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and give you peace. Tom was my daughter Jamie's principal at Rockledge High and my Principal at Melbourne High. When I came to Melbourne High to teach, Jamie came to say hello to him, and his witty response was, " Students never come back to see me. They only come to see their teachers." He was so gracious to her, and we will always cherish his wonderful sense of humor and his leadership.

Dr. M articulated & opened so many windows to opportunity in our community. His Family pride & professional achievements are fairly well known. What he did privately may not be. The consummate "Coach", he was always first in line at our gym every weekday morning - even if he wasn't feeling well. He was there, with a smile & words of encouragement for everyone. A former school crossing guard at some of his schools, I lost a leg in 2005. Along with others, Dr. Tom closely followed my recovery & forced me to get back on two feet! He wouldn't give up, & I didn't either. We teased & taunted each other about going bald, then maybe needing a haircut later. There are so many stories to share about this great man. I thought the Family should know my heart goes out to them in their recovery from this loss.

Dear McIntyre's
They say a man is defined by how he is as a son, husband and a father. While, I agree with this. Coach Mac was much more. He always excelled at all things he has done. I will have fond memories of him taking his first Asst Coaching job at Mel-Hi and doing calistenics at the same time the team did them. The whole time not showing a bit of fatigue and encouraging us with his knees chopping up high. The impact he has had on my life will be everlasting from Coaching me as a football player, Hiring me for my first Job, To putting me under his wing and guiding me through that tough first year of teaching. We've lost a great man. He is in a better place and will undoubtedly live on in my life forever. A true role model. The guidance and advice given to me by him are still use daily.

They would light up the room when they walk in together, so much love!!! I'm so sorry for your loss Mary, Sean, Eric, and Patrick. Tom has truly touched so many lives, and always fighting for the kids best interest. He will be missed by many... God will take care of him now until you all meet again. With much love, The Wallace Family

Mr. McIntyre was a very good man and a wonderful educator. His first year at Rockledge High was my first year as a student at RHS. His caring, love and devotion for his students was like no other. Any time I had an issue or a problem, whether it was school related or personal, I knew I could always talk to him. There are so many memories I have of Mr. McIntyre, but my best memory was walking across the stage at graduation and handing him a small wrench as we shook hands, for a prior instance that happened while I was repairing his truck in the RHS Auto shop. I still have the picture of us shaking hands and the grin on his face when he received the wrench. He was a great man and he will be dearly missed as an educator and as a person. My heartfelt sympathies and prayers are with the entire McIntyre family. I am sorry for your loss. He will always be in my thoughts and prayers. God bless to the entire family.

Our deepest sympathies go out to you all at this very hard time. Many lives have been blessed by knowing the man closest to you. He was a great teacher, coach and friend to anyone who knew him. I wont ever forget the cook outs, dinners before dances and him always saying "keep smiling". May God be with you during this difficult time.
Mr. McIntyre you will be greatly missed but know you are looking down from a better place.

Mary,
I have just learned of Tom's illness and passing. Even though Deborah and I have not seen you and Tom for years, we are shaken. Many of our fondest memories include the long days and nights we spent together while teaching and coaching. Anyone who knew him will miss his enthusiasm, his smile, and his candor. The world will be a sadder place. Our love to you and the boys.

Tom's passing hits home as he and I were battling cancer at the same time. I ended treatment in March, but Tom remained positive, strong and fighting. It just reminds me that no matter how hard you fight, sometimes God needs you home.
I love you Mary!!! My prayers are now for you and your family.

Tom left a great legacy to the field of education. I personally always found him to be firm, decisive, and always fair in his dealings as an administrator. Tom will leave a gigantic hole to be filled not only in the Brevard school system but in the entire community.

Brevard County Schools has lost a true leader and we have lost a dear friend. Tom was both a mentor and a friend to me when I started out as a new teacher at Mel-Hi 22 years ago. He was truly interested in what was best for students and he always treated others with respect and understanding. My heartfelt sympathies and prayers are with the entire McIntyre family. God bless you all.

I graduated in 2003 and it was also his last year at mel-high i will never forget how he helped me fight so i could attend my last year at mel-high instead of night school since i only needed one credit to graduate. I also remember the day of graduation i was walking up to shack his hand and he looked at me and said congradulations you made it . i looked at him and i said thanks to you i made it and i am walking with my class. I first met Tom as a football official when he was head coach at Melbourne. The friendship he extended to me both on and off the field is something I will always cherish. He allowed me to be part of his "football family", and always taught me to be proud of what I was doing on the field. Tom's warm friendly personalty was magnified by his honesty, integrity, and his rock solid dedication to education. In his family, his "school family", and "athletic family", Dr. Tom McIntyre will will live on. Anne and my prayers go out to Tom's family and family's. He will be missed.

Dear Mary, Sean, Eric and Patrick, our deepest sympathy and prayers are with you. Tom was a great leader and inspiration to not only his kids but our kids as well from little league, to high school and more. He is a gift to be treasured, a great loss to be mourned and will be in our hearts forever. The silver lining in this dark, sad cloud it that he is no longer suffering or in pain. He will be watching and protecting us from his seat in heaven. We all share you sadness and are there for all of you. We love you. God Bless. Hugs, Diane Howard, Nicole, LB, Danielle and Shane Martin.
