RICHARD C. "DICK" HENDERSON

RICHARD C. "DICK" HENDERSON, 85, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at home with his loving family by his side. He was a lifelong resident of New Haven, and a faithful member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven. He worked at International Harvester Co. before joining the Indiana State Police, retiring in 1977 after 21 years of dedicated service. He then was plant security officer for B.F. Goodrich Co., retiring in 1989. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Erma Henderson; daughter, Corinne (Clark) Spurrier of New York, N.Y.; son-in-law, Timothy Marquardt of New Haven; grandchildren, Ian and Graham Spurrier, Melissa Marquardt, Emily (Jeremy) Blackman; great-grandchildren, Lillian and Zachary Blackman; numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marla Marquardt in August of 2012; mother, Hilda Barrow Henderson; and sister, Jeanette Fiebig. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven with calling one hour prior to service. Rev. Paul Shoemaker officiating. Calling also from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery.
