The memories of our family of six, and your family of seven, getting together are still some of my favourite childhood memories, especially the night us kids got caught out on Orange Lake in a thunderstorm! Thanks for coming to our rescue. My sincere condolences.

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting JT at Pearl's gas station one fortuitous spring day on my way home to the panhandle. He sure made a lasting impression on me. In the short yet memorable visit, I knew I had just met an amazing human and I didn't want the conversation to end. He invited me to tour Cross Creek and life got in the way of taking up his kind offer. I have since quietly toured Cross Creek and thought of him. Prayers of condolence to his wife, Patricia (he spoke of her highly in that time as well) and the rest of his family.

I was in Portugal and missed notices in the paper but my brother told me of Jake's passing. What a wonderful life he lived! My parents greatly enjoyed times spent with him and Pat. I was fortunate enough to join some of those delightful sessions. He is greatly missed.

JT, you have been my friend since we attended school together at Hawthorne High School. You were especially a good friend to my brother, Jeff McMeekin. You made so many people laugh with your wit. My sincerest condolences to your family. You will be greatly missed. Julia McMeekin Owen
