Larry James Corcoran

Larry was born in Conrad on July 31, 1942 to William (Bill) and LaRue Corcoran. The family re-located to Shelby, where Larry attended school until the 8th grade.



The family then moved to back Conrad, where he received his diploma from Conrad High School in 1960. Larry was an outstanding athlete and scholar. He attended and played basketball at the University of Montana. As a Montana Grizzly, Larry excelled on the basketball court. He caught the eye of the NBA's Seattle Supper Sonics, earning him an invite to practice with the team. Larry was also an outstanding musician. After college he moved to Seattle, where he sang and played in numerous Rock 'N Roll bands including Cannon Ball, Johnny Saturn and the Electrics, Sons of Saturn, Zachariah, and Brandon Enterprise just to name a few. While performing on stage in Seattle, he met Vita Hernandez, who he later married. The couple raised two children and the family accompanied Larry as his bands toured Canada. His bands were the opening act for many hall of fame performers during the 70's, like Alice Cooper and Jim Morrison. Larry also often bragged about his kiss, from the one and only Cher. After touring, Larry decided to put his passion for music on hold to raise his family. They settled in Seattle and the couple opened the Mediterranean Pizza and Pasta restaurant. Over the years, Larry and Vita parted ways, but remained close friends. Later, he owned and operated the Monster Deli and The Firehouse restaurant, where on many nights, you could still hear his vocals and bass guitar during one of Long Larry's live gigs. Larry was also an athletic coach who's passion and love for sports inspired kids to pursue their athletics dreams, many of which played at the colligate level. In 1995, he moved back to Montana to care for his mother. After her passing, he remained in Butte and re-ignited his life long passion for rock 'n roll. His legendary bands were "Kevin Clark and Long Larry Show", "The Diamond in Me" (a Neil Diamond tribute show), "Michael Kidd" (a tribute to Elvis), "Firewater", and the "Long Larry and Monty Montgomery" band. During this time, he met his special friend and long time companion, Nancy Treglown. He played several gigs with Judy Powers and played at the "Butte Vigilante Rodeo" with friends Michael Reynolds, Monty Montgomery and "Fancy Nancy" Treglown. Larry loved hanging out at the Sun Canyon Lodge, which was at one time owned by his grandmother Edna McDonald. He was also a proud member of Mt. Moriah Lodge # 24, A. F. & A. M. Larry was very empathetic to those who needed help. He loved and enjoyed visiting with people and sharing his sometimes unbelievable, yet true, life experiences. He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.



Larry was preceded in death by his parents William (Bill) and LaRue Corcoran; infant brother Billy Corcoran; brother-in-law Eugene Knobel, and wife Vita Felan Corcoran.



Larry is survived by his special friend and long time companion Nancy Treglown of Butte; sister Linda (Earl) Duncan of Conrad; children Herb Souza and LaRita (Aaron) Soto of Pueblo Colo.; grandchildren Cassandra, Elijah, Vita, Vayu, Alexis, Alyssa, Adrian, Anthony and Avery Soto; nephew Tommy (Kate) Knobel, Colorado Springs Colo.; nieces Debbie (Brian) Williams, Taber CA., and Cindy (Jamie) Fuson, Conrad; great nephews Drew, Jesse, Colby and Tanner; great nieces Kayla, Rebecca and Alex; extended Hernandez, Souza, Padilla and Soto families; along with other numerous family friends and long time K-9 buddy Chucho .
