Michael Colburn Obituary

Colburn, Michael

Michael Patrick Colburn, age 73, passed away on Tuesday June 27, 2017, at Unity Hospice after battling a lengthy illness. He was born on January 27, 1944 in Chicago. Mike's parents were the late Ned and Mary Colburn of Hiles WI. On June 12, 1971, he married Patricia Shepeck in Green Bay.

Mike was an active member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and served as a member of the choir. He enjoyed going to McDonald's each morning for coffee, a sausage mcmuffin with egg and friendship, singing in the Baylanders Barbershop Chorus, and spending time with all family members and friends. He volunteered at Curative Connections assisting others with traumatic brain injuries. Mike was known as Mr. Fix-It.

Mike is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter, Jenny; sons, Jeff, Bob and Brian (Barb); brother Bill (Patti); brother-in-law Jim Shepeck; sister-in-law Ann Brooks (Skip); and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother and father; two brothers Bob and Tom Freiburger; father-in-law and mother-in-law Gordon and Marie Shepeck; brother-in-law Tom Shepeck; and sister-in law Bonnie Shepeck.

Mike's family would like to give special thanks to Judy Miller and Shawn Madigan for their constant care and support; to Unity Hospice, especially Ashley, Lori, and Robin; to Lesia from Home Instead; and to all family, neighbors and friends who helped in countless ways over the past years.

Visitation will be held at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 South Oneida St. on Saturday, July 1 beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of the Resurrection presided over by Fr. Willie Van De Loo beginning at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mike's name to Unity Hospice, 2366 Oak Ridge Circle, DePere WI 54115.

Dear Pat and family,
We are so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. You are in our thoughts and prayers. No act of kindness is too small, and one such memory we have of Mike is how he knew our son,Jeff, was collecting super cars given out at gas stations years ago, and Mike collected a few for him. Although we've lost touch over the yesrs, we will always remember Mike for his special smile.

Dear Jeff and family,
It is with deepest sorrow that I write to you at the passing of your father and husband, brother, and friend. Please accept my deepest sympathies and may comfort and peace come to each of you as you grieve for your loss. I wish you joy and laughter as you share memories of good times, and know that everything he taught you, his influence, his love, his passions and his ideals will remain with you forever. He is only gone from this earth, but his legacy lives on in you for as long as you live.
With love and prayers,
Suzanne Stevens (Jeff's colleague)
