Mike Chervenka Obituary

Mike Chervenka

Green Bay - Michael J Chervenka "Mike", passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021. He was 67.

Mike was born on May 15, 1953 in Green Bay, WI, to Jerome and Dolores (Rohr) Chervenka. He attended St. Matthew School and Abbott Pennings High School and was a 1971 graduate of Green Bay East High School. Mike worked as an accomplished commercial painter for many years doing interior and exterior work. His impeccable attention to detail made him in high demand for his painting skills. Additionally, he worked at Oneida Casino for the past 25 years, retiring in 2020.

Mike enjoyed spending time in the warm California sun visiting his brother and family in Mission Viejo, Ca. He watched his nephews play countless baseball games and then enjoyed his first taste of Sushi, which he loved! Mike shared his brother John's love of the Rolling Stones and together they attended three live concerts, loving every minute! He was a lifelong Packers fan, an attendee of the famed Ice Bowl.

Mike is survived by his Sister, Mary K (Tom) Frymark, Plover, Wi and Brother, John (Diane), Chervenka, Mission Viejo, CA. Nieces: Amy (Frymark)Flores; Amanda Spangler and Karissa Zamora. Nephews: Andrew Frymark; Joshua Chervenka and Jacob Chervenka.

Mike was predeceased in death by his parents, Jerome and Dolores Chervenka.

His siblings pet dogs were always a favorite of Mike. Maddie and Luke both enjoyed a special bond and many long walks with Uncle Mike. They jumped with joy when Uncle Mike arrived to visit. Mike will be missed. He was the original Jumpin Jack Flash.

A Mass of Christian Burial at Resurrection Catholic Church 333 Hilltop Drive will be on Wednesday, April 7th. Mike and his father, Jerome Chervenka, will share this time together. Jerome passed away on February 10, 2021. Father Tom Reyenbeau will celebrate the Mass.

Mike will be buried next to his maternal grandparents, August and Cecilia Rohr, in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Kewaunee, Wis. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Proko Wall Funeral Home at 1630 E. Mason Street Green Bay, WI 54302.

The family would like to thank, Lese, of AseraCare Hospice & staff for all of their guidance and care, as well as the staff of Oak Park Place helping my brother complete his final path in life.

Mike and I were good friends, and shared lots of good times, adventures and now memories. We played sports, watched sports ( I too was at the Ice Bowl), went on double dates, graduated High School, visited our share of bars, formed a not too shabby two man Foosball team and were rooomies during our college days at Madison. We did see a Pink Floyd concert there .... But NOT THREE STONES concerts .WOW! I was so sad to learn of the passing of both Mike and Mr Chervenka.
I stayed over one night, and Mike and I snuck out with the keys to the Chevy, pushed it on to the street, started it and cruised around town. Later, we silently coasted into the driveway, and snuck back into the totally dark house .... And hear. "Doug go home." A light switched on, and we were standing face to face with a not very happy Mr C. We babble something like "it's 3:30 in the morning!" After looking at us for quite awhile, he retrieves the car keys from Mike's hand, walks out of the room, switches off the light ... And says "you can stay."
Like Father. .... Like Son.
Two very cool guys.

Mike will be missed. He was an inspiration to me when I was going through my Dental journey that we experienced around the same time. I felt a little insecure about the change, but Mike was there with encouraging words that helped me through the life changing moment. He always went out of his way to see how I was doing. Mike had a great sense of humor and we shared many laughs when I was posted at the Valet entrance. Rest in peace my friend, and thank you for being a part of my journey, we had alot of commen interests and I'll miss discussing past and present life with you. Take care my friend and please say to my Mom for me, she'll make you laugh too. Your friend always. Stephen J Gorski Jr Former #600 PS may the Family find peace and comfort durring this difficult time and know he's in a better place and no longer in pain. God Bless you all. ❤

I met Mike while working at the Casino in the early 90's. I used to tease he reminded me of Robin Williams, and fitting Mike always loved a good laugh!!! Sincere condolences to his family and close friends, a good man indeed!
