Jean - Ace was my Clemson roommate in our jr. year after Johnny and my roommate Allen Fleener were both drafted into the army. We were all very close back then. My son, Stephen Price of Clemson was named after Ace. I'm sorry we didn't see each other often thru the years but my military career had me in the wind most of the time. I'm so sorry! I went to elementary and high school with Steve "Ace" Bowie. We were in the Liberty High Band together for a few years and he was the best trumpet player to ever come out of Liberty. I had not seen him in years, but will always remember his talent and his dimples!!

News of the passing of Ace brought back a flood of great memories. Ace and the Unknowns were always the highlight of every fraternity party they played (Delta Phi Kappa then & Phi Delta Theta now). I know there will always be music with Ace. Wallace Brittain, Clemson Class of '68

So very sad to hear that Ace has passed on, but knowing what kind of a man he was, he's no doubt singing gospel with the Saints! I met Ace many years ago when he called on me at Bosch in Anderson, and we maintained a friendship for many years. He was a remarkable man with many talents, but his greatest talent was being a witness for his Savior. I will miss my friend, but rejoice in the knowledge that he is forever free from pain and suffering.
April 20, 2012
Jean, It has been some time since we had the opportunity to hear his voice and yours as well. Knowing his faith was as strong a foundation as your 44 years together is an example of a man and a father whose children and friends will long remember as his legacy. May God's presence comfort you and may His arms embrace you knowing Ace is sitting at His side.

I met Ace once at a gathering one evening before his band was to perform the next evening. He sang for the group what he called the greatest song ever written. It was "Jesus Loves Me". I know he is singing that song to Jesus today.

Jean,
We were so sad to hear that Ace had finally lost the brave battle he'd been fighting. Please know that our memories will always be of his incrediable voice and the fun we always shared with the two of you at the Asip's and the band's concerts. You were always "honorary members" of the Piedmont Bend group and it's been a joy to have known both of you for all these years.
Warm regards,
