Frank PAPPALARDO Obituary

PAPPALARDO, Frank P. Frank Patrick Pappalardo, 83, of South Windsor, beloved husband for nearly 60 years, of Lorraine (Polce) Pappalardo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, (March 26, 2011), at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born March 27, 1927 in Hartford to the late Sebastiano and Josephine (Paradiso) Pappalardo. Frank served honorably as a Naval Corpsman in the U. S. Navy during World War II. After the war Frank returned to Connecticut, attended Trinity College and UConn, and for many years was self employed in the environmental field. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in South Windsor, American Legion Post 102 in Manchester, and a parishioner since 1961 of St. Margaret Mary Church in South Windsor, where he was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Chapter. In his heart Frank was a musician, he played guitar for "The Locks People", "The Stardusters", and numerous other local bands and orchestras. He enjoyed fishing along the Connecticut shore, and truly relished the times that he was able to have his grandchildren along to try out his favorite fishing spots. In addition to his wife Lorraine, he leaves his sons, Frank S. Pappalardo and his wife Patricia of Coventry; Thomas Pappalardo and his wife Sandra of Glastonbury; two sisters, Rose Marum of South Windsor; Lucia Spada and her husband Joseph of West Simsbury; three grandchildren, Anthony, Kathryn, and Marissa Pappalardo, as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 30, from 4-8 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. Family and friends may gather on Thursday, March 31, 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to DaVita Dialysis of Vernon, Doctors Bacay, Milite and Chafouleas, and the Doctors and staff at Manchester Memorial Hospital Unit for Special Care and Hospice. Donations in Frank's memory may be made to St. Margaret Mary, St. Vincent DePaul Chapter, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor CT 06074 or the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria VA 22312. Lorraine & family,
Frank was one of my favorite patients...it was truly an honor being one of his nurses every mon wed fri. I will always remeber him waddling in, saying hello to everyone, wearing pants that were way to big, sharing stories of his youth, and his precious grandkids, and of course all of our conversations about food. but what i will cherish most of all, was his smile, the way he reminded me of my own grandpa, and his love for you lorraine. I was and always will be in awe of the two of you! Frank was a VERY special person, and i am lucky to have known him. there are those patients who get the best of you, and who really make an imprint and an impact on your life.. frank was one of them.
my sincere sympathy, Toni (dialysis nurse)

Dear Mrs Pappalardo, Frank & Tom-
Growing up across the street from you, I have many memories of Mr. P...playing the guitar in the garage, picking pears from the tree in the backyard, hanging out on the front stoop! He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
