Jill Fahey Obituary

It is with great sorrow to announce the sudden passing of Jill Marie Fahey (Hahn), age 57. A loving daughter, mother, and wife, she lived her life to the fullest surrounded by her family and her art. Jill was born in Hartford, CT to Theresa and Albert Hahn. Her childhood was spent in Granby CT running barefoot with her brothers Paul and Mark and sister Terri-Ann. She spent most of her young academic years trying to navigate her learning disability. She graduated from Granby High School and went on to study at Northwest Connecticut Community College and finally finished her bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Westfield State College. Despite her struggles, it never stopped her from accomplishing her goals. Her early career was spent as an activities director helping the elderly and disabled persons live fulfilling lives through games and art at The Meadows Nursing Home in Leicester, MA. In 1986, she met her husband, Tim Fahey and they had 3 amazing children, Nicholas Fahey (of North Adams, MA), Hahnna DelVecchio (of California), and Jacob Fahey (of Granby, CT). They moved to Leicester, Massachusetts and Jill devoted her time to raising her children and nurturing a wonderful and magical environment for them to grow up in despite a tiny house and modest means. Being a mother and creating a home was important to her and she loved inviting people over to have a meal and share her life with them. She annually hosted the local CampFire kids group and instilled her love of art and helping others into her children. While her husband served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, her strength was tested every day. She raised her children, found ways to make limited resources extend through the whole month and occasionally found time to pursue her love and true passion for pottery and art. Through it all, she stayed true to herself. She was the gallery assistant at Westfield State where she helped set up many shows and was active in the former Community Outreach program for local residents through the pottery studio there. In her early 50's she figured out what she wanted to be when she grew up and achieved her master's degree in gallery and museum management with high honors at Western Colorado University. At the age of 54, She finally got the job that she loved as the museum curator for the Connecticut Tobacco Museum In Windsor, CT. She has 3 beautiful grandchildren, Natalie, Vivian, and Oisín. A devoted wife and mother, she was always so helpful and went the extra mile to help her grown kids with whatever they needed. She loved her family and friends with all her heart. She sacrificed so much and never thought twice about it. She is survived by her husband, Tim Fahey; Her children, Nick Fahey and wife Kate Merrigen, Hahnna Delvecchio and husband Anthony, and Jake Fahey; Her parents, Al and Theresa Hahn; Her siblings, Paul Hahn and wife Claire, Mark Hahn and wife Sharon, and sister Terri-Ann Hahn; Also, her many cousins, in-laws, and friends. Calling hours to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021, from 4-7PM at Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, CT. 06035. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10AM at St. Theresa Parish, 120 West Granby Road, Granby. CT 06035. Burial will follow in Granby cemetery. I am so sorry for your loss.

I am up in Rhode Island and I had received the news that Jill is no longer with us, which is a profound loss of course to her family, and friends and coworkers, classmates and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and working with Jill.
I met Jill as a student at WSU where she was always so enthusiastic, creative and diligent. As she moved on to graduate school working for us at the college and obtaining a museum job, my pride swelled for all of her accomplishments. She spoke so dearly of her husband, Tim, and her three children so adored.
I will miss her so much, as it was way to soon for her to leave us all.
My deepest sympathies to the Fahey family. May Jill rest in peace forever and ever.
