Juan Navarrete Obituary
December 24, 1952 - January 1, 2021
Miami, Florida - Juan Francisco "Pancho" Navarrete, of Miami, Florida passed away tragically in an automobile accident on New Year's Day. He was 68. Born in Santiago de Cuba, Juan and his family were exiled to Miami in 1962 following the imprisonment of his father by the Castro regime. Juan was a graduate of Louisiana State University and he enjoyed a long career as a social worker in Miami. He was a devoted father, brother, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, F. Javier and Armantina Navarrete, and his sister, Bibi Patterson. He is survived by two children, Jeanine Navarrete, 33, of Washington D.C., and Julian Francisco Navarrete, 29, of Miami, as well as four siblings, Ana Viso, Javier Navarrete, Tina Danker, and Maria Freedman. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 1/19 at 11AM at St. Brendan's Catholic Church.

I hadn’t seen you in about five or six years, but I woke up this morning thinking of you. I googled you, only to find this page at the top of the results. Tragic. You were a joy to know and I’m lucky to have met you on my journey. I had many wonderful conversations with you about life, the old Dade County, defunct eating establishments and of course (our favorite topic) rock n’ roll. You were a true original with an abiding love for the things that really mattered in this world— family, friendship, laughter and great music. Rest in peace my friend.
