Ruth Litchford Obituary

DEWEYVILLE - A valiant spirit, one of the jewels of our Heavenly Father was called home Aug. 11, 2011. Ruth Snow Litchford passed away at her home surrounded by family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ruth was born in Deweyville, Utah, on Sept. 6, 1920. She lived most of her life in Deweyville and was raised on the family farm as the oldest child with three brothers and one sister.
She married Charles Daniel Litchford Sr. on July 22, 1943, and they were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on March 7, 1945. She graduated from Bear River High School, then attended Utah State University and obtained a bachelor's degree in elementary education.
Ruth had many loves that developed her talents and gifts including, first, her family, and also teaching, scouting and music. All of her loves involved serving others and she used the church hymn, "Have I Done Any Good?" to guide her life. Ruth has been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of her life. She served in the Primary, Sunday School, and MIA in various positions as a teacher, leader, chorister and organist, and in Relief Society on a ward level as a teacher, president, and faithful visiting teacher, and in various music callings on a stake level.
She had a great love for family history and served a mission in the Hartford, Connecticut Mission after her retirement. She loved the Savior, serving God's children with all of her heart and felt an obligation to teach the Gospel through word and deed to her posterity. She loved the many family gatherings and reunions that were always held down at her home.
Ruth is survived by her eight children, Charles Daniel (Nancy) Litchford Jr., Michael Lee (Pam) Litchford, Charlette (Dale) Meservy, Larry Donald (Jody) Litchford, Patricia (Garry) Bessinger, Victoria (Carl) Haas, David Orion (Kenna) Litchford and Jeffrey Thomas (Jeannie) Litchford; a stepdaughter, MaDean (Jim) Bisch; 31 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilford Woodruff (Beth) Snow Jr.; and a sister, Barbara Jean (George) Thackery. She was preceded in death by her husband; both parents, Orion Woodruff Snow Jr and Lettie Dewey Snow; and two brothers, Donald Reeves Snow and Dewey Snow.
Funeral services will be held at the Deweyville LDS Church 10750 N. Highway 38 in Deweyville, Utah, on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home, 111 N. 100 East in Tremonton, Utah, on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral services.
