Major Strum Obituary

LTC MAJOR STRUM, (U.S. Army Ret.) went to be with his bride on September 8, 2003. Major Strum was born on September 6, 1927, and was adopted by Collie and Johnny Simmons Strum. Major Strum graduated from Tuskegee Institute in 1952 and married his college sweetheart Elizabeth "Dorothy" Livins Strum who preceded him in death. Major is survived by eight children: Elizabeth Michelle "Mickey" (Houston), Ann Terri (Los Angeles, CA), The lovely and amazing Mimi Marie (New York City), Mary Beth (Alexandria, VA), Timothy Jule (Houston), Therese Kelly (San Francisco, CA), Joseph Anthony (Washington, D.C.) and David Mel (Houston). He also had five grandchildren: Jason Clouser, Molly Hall, Jennifer Clouser, Lora Vaitsas and David Strum; and his beloved dog, Honey Too. Visitation will be Thursday, September 11, 2003, between the hours of 5:00-9:00 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 6220 La Salette St. The Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be Friday, September 12, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at 1:45 p.m. in Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Strum's name to the Houston SPCA, 900 Portway, Houston, TX 77024; The Alzheimer's Association, 2909 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77025; or the The Hospice Foundation of America, 2001 2nd Street NW, Suite 300, Washington D.C. 20009.
