Paul Arndt Obituary

Arndt, Paul

Paul Arndt, 89, passed away on Thursday, May 29, at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Manitowoc, he attended Lincoln High School until he was drafted as a junior and then was assigned to the Army's 80th division. He served in Europe and was always proud that he was a guard at the Nuremberg Trials in Germany. When the war ended he returned home and became a tool and die maker at Mirro Aluminum, where he met his wife, Ruth Tittl. They were married in 1951. He went on to become an electrical engineer, working at Lube Devices and the Metal Ware Corporation in Two Rivers. He was selected to be a member of Underwriters Laboratories in the division of small appliances in the United States and Canada.

Paul enjoyed working with his hands and had a gift of being able to repair just about anything from furniture to small appliances. His basement workroom was his refuge. He was a proud grandfather and a devoted husband.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and John Arndt of Manitowoc and his sister, Eloise Beduhn. He is survived by his wife Ruth of 63 years, a son Jeffery, a daughter, Janis, son- in-law, Gerald Burns and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Paul was a diabetic for 56 years and kept meticulous detail of his health. Memorials may be made in his honor to the Diabetes Foundation or the Altrusa house in Green Bay for their support when Paul had heart surgery.

The family wishes to thank special friends; Jim and Pat Kiel, Janet Bursek, Dawn and Gerrie at Hermening Financial, the caregivers at Riverwood Place for their kindness and compassion in the last few years of Pauls life, the caregivers at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center, Holy Family Hospital Med-Surg medical team and Holy Family Hospice for their support and gentleness as we navigated Pauls transition.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
