Armando Archuleta Obituary

ARMANDO ARCHULETA
The long and storied life of Armando Archuleta came to an end at his home early Friday morning, July 19, 2013. At 51 years of age, there isn't much Armando would say he hadn't done. From snowboarding in the Sierra's to searching for Sasquatch in the Sawtooth, he lived for adventure and experienced more than the average man could ever dream of. His tales-whether fact, fiction or some combination of the two-could hold the attention of anyone in earshot.
Armando was born on March 10, 1962 to Jose and Mary Archuleta in Blackfoot, ID along with his twin brother Rolando "Gordo" Archuleta. He was raised in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1980.
In his youth he was a well-renowned boxer in the local boxing community, winning many titles. At the age of 30, after a 13 year hiatus, he was driven to come back to the sport he loved and won the Idaho Golden Gloves championship, the Regional Golden Gloves championship and compete for the National Golden Gloves title in Chicago, IL.
Armando tried his hand at various jobs including industrial painter/fire proofer, planting trees for the Forest Service and pest control technician. He finally found his true calling in life as a journeyman electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 449.
He was an avid reader and researcher of any subject that captured his interest. He also enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, hiking, camping, snake-hunting, snowboarding and most of all riding his Harley-Davidson.
Armando is survived by his only child, Zander, twin brother Rolando, sisters; Gloria, Shirley and JoAnn, brothers; Gene D. and Rick and best friend/brother by choice, Brett Matkin, numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Mary, brothers Ray and Danny, sisters Margaret and Kathy.
There will be a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life at the home of Brett Matkin, 1508 North Mink Creek Road, Pocatello, on Saturday, August 3rd at 2:00pm. We would like to invite all of his friends and family to come and recount a story or adventure you experienced with Mondo.
There will also be a Memorial Ride in Mondo's Honor the morning of August 3rd beginning at Pocatello Cycle, 260 Yellowstone, starting at 10:30am and concluding at the Memorial Service. Any questions about the ride can be directed to Reuben at (208) 380-0999.
There has been a memorial fund set up at in Armando's name. Donations can be sent to: Connections Credit Union, 1150 North 8th, Pocatello, ID 83201.
Services are under the direction and care of Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 South 4th Avenue, 233-1500.
Condolences may be placed online at www.colonial-funeralhome.com.
