George Speckman Obituary

George R. Speckman, Sr. 79, of Greenwood, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010. George was born to the late George and Mamie Knott Speckman in Indianapolis, IN on February 19, 1931. George retired after 35 years as a civil engineer with Indianapolis Power and Light. He served our country in the U.S. Navy. George was an active member of Our Lady Greenwood Catholic Church were he served on the parish council and school board at one time. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. George married Julia Schwartz on August 19, 1953 and she survives. Also surviving are three sons, George R., Jr., Mark T., and Michael E. Speckman; one daughter, Gretchen M. Krug; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 6 siblings. Family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
