Frederick Clinton Petersen Sr.
81, of Indianapolis, passed away March 8th, surrounded by family, following a short illness. He was born April 5, 1930 in New York, NY, the son of John Petersen and Margaret (Rauch) Petersen Doster. He married Florence Cecelia Neary on September 14, 1952 in East Chatham, New York.
Frederick graduated from New Lebanon Central School in 1948. He served as an aerial photographer in the United States Navy from 1948-52. After completing his military service, he graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1958 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a registered Professional Engineer. During his career, he worked for a number of construction companies, municipalities and founded his own general contracting firm, F.C. Petersen Construction Company. He loved working side-by-side with his sons and their work together was a great source of pride.
Frederick was a gifted artist and photographer. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, working on projects around the home, and daily walks with his dog Rusty.
Frederick is survived by beloved wife Florence; brother Rudolph Petersen; children Margaret (Robert) Hueseman, Patricia (John) Ginda, Frederick (Judith) Petersen Jr., Susan (Glenn) Litts, James (Roberta) Petersen, and Matthew (Diane) Petersen; seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John F. Petersen, Sr.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 12, at 2:00 p.m. in Resurrection Lutheran Church, 445 E. Stop 11 Rd., Indianapolis, with visitation from Noon until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Greenwood.
