Wilma Hassell Obituary
Milan - Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Ann Hassell, age 78 of Milan, will take place at 11:00 AM Monday, February 4, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Milan with burial to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan.
Visitation with the family will take place Monday morning from 9:00 AM until service time at the First Baptist Church in Milan.
Mrs. Hassell was a dedicated member of Milan First Baptist Church. She was a retired Milan school teacher where she honored as Milan Outstanding Young Educator in 1971, MEA Distinguished Classroom Teacher 1991-1992, and Milan Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year in 1999. Her teaching career spanned from 1962-1972 and 1976-1999. She was a member of MEA, the Milan Music Club, and WMU.
Mrs. Wilma is survived by her daughter, Janet Roberson and husband Kirk of Milan, and grandchildren, Matthew Norris Roberson and Kathryn Reece Roberson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Leon Johns and Lura Ruth Ingram Johns, and her husband Norris Hassell.

I was so saddened to read about the death of Wilma Hassell. Though I was not in her class, my younger siblings were and she was an ever present person at church and such and encouraging and loving person. She was a favorite Milan personality within my whole family. Her memory will always be for a blessing.

Janet and family: I dont have to tell you what a special lady your mom was. What a special and beloved friend to the Spain family she was, and what influence she had on each of us. I have many fond memories of Ms. Wilma. I was able to visit with her right before Christmas when dad and I stopped by. Im so thankful for the love and support she always showed our family, especially Brandon and myself. Most of all, I thank the Lord for her love and testimony for Jesus. You all are in our prayers.
