Denny Lawrence Obituary
Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17 at Open Door Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Linebarger officiating. Interment will follow in Bayview Cemetery.
Mr. Lawrence graduated from Morehead City High School in 1954 and joined the U.S. Coast Guard. Following his service in the U.S. Coast Guard, he attended UNC Chapel Hill and graduated in 1962. He was employed with the Federal Health and Human Services. He owned and operated several local businesses including the Iron Steamer Fishing Pier and Resort and DJ's Restaurant.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jana Lawrence.
Survivors include two daughters, Denise Helms of Chantilly, Va., and Maria Vernelson; son, Denny Lawrence II of Morehead City; brother, Bobby Lawrence of Morehead City and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 5 to 7 pm Sunday, Aug. 16 at Munden Funeral Home, Morehead City. Memorials may be made to Open Door Baptist Church, 227 Hwy 24, Morehead City, NC, 28557.
