Douglas Proebsting Obituary

Proebsting, Douglas A. "Doug" Of Pewaukee, WI, entered into eternal life on Thursday, March 16, 2017, in Brookfield at the age of 49 years. He was born February 20, 1968, in Hartford, WI, to David and Sue Proebsting. Doug attended Hartford Union High School where he met the love of his life Wendy and graduated with the class of 1986. After graduating with a degree in Actuarial Science and developing his love for all things Bucky at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Doug went to work for Milliman where he achieved great success and made many treasured friends. Doug put his heart and soul into everything he did, and was admired and loved by everyone he met. He could light up a room and make everyone smile with his quick wit and charismatic personality. He was truly in his happy place when he was on the golf course, watching Packer and Badger games, and spending time with his family and friends in Waupaca and Lake Tahoe. Survivors include his wife Wendy and daughters Marissa and Isabella Proebsting of Pewaukee, his parents Dave and Sue Proebsting of Waupaca, brother John (Kathy) Proebsting of Hartford, sister-in-law Julie Proebsting of Slinger, mother and father-in-law Arlene and Bob Carlson of Colgate, brother and sister-in-law Scott and Lisa Carlson of Northfield, MN; nieces and nephews Whitney (Eric) Shneyder, Andrew Proebsting, Grant and Grace Carlson, Bridgid and JP McGuire; and many other relatives and friends. Doug was preceded in death by his brother, James "Jim" Proebsting. Memorial Gathering at the Funeral Home Tuesday, March 21, from 4 PM to 6:45 PM. Memorial Service at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hearts for Families would be greatly appreciated.

My father also died at age 49 so I know how shocking and traumatic it is for the family. My prayers will be for you all. Doug was a good friend and a marvelous serve-and-volley tennis player who was better than me. We had a lot of fun together. I know how much he loved his family. God bless the Proebstings!

I loved playing tennis with Doug. I've never played a more relentless serve-and-volley competitor in my life. He was always gracious and classy on the court and kept the game in the proper context.
But it was the beer afterward that I really enjoyed the most. Doug was easy and fun to talk to. I admired his professional skill and liked to hear about his career and the way it was advancing.
I pray his family is more at peace a year later. God rest his soul!

Mary and I are deeply sorrowful over the death of your sons. We remember being your next door neighbors when these boys were young and seeing them grow to manhood. Truly this world has lost two fine gentleman. Life is so unfair. We send our prayers.

My heart goes out to Doug's family and friends. I had the pleasure of meeting Doug and his close friend, Scott Bentley through business and became annual golf foursome. His energy, positive attitude, passion for life, incredible knowledge, and truly genuine care for people/ family/friends was one-of-a-kind and I feel blessed to have shared time with him over the years. I am truly saddened by his passing yet know that He is looking down on all of us everyday and will cherish is style and spirit. He will not be forgotten. My close friends Pete and Scott will continue to play golf every year in his memory to carry forward his passion for golf and life! God bless his family and many friends.

Doug and Susan were my first friends. My prayers and condolences are with the family.

We didn't know you Doug but we do know your Mom & Dad, Sue & Dave and they are special people in our lives. To know them is to know you because you have a special family, with special people and your parents are the most lovely people we know. Our loves goes with your family and friends and we hope that your faith will bring you through this terrible time. The smile in your picture is the smile that I see in your mother all the time in our time in Florida. Be at peace, Doug and take care of your older brother, Jim. You two, take care of each other.

Just so saddened by another loss of our family, by a spirit so young. Cous, I put my praise in God that there's a reason why we've lost two of you in such a short time...I just pray that although your life here was filled with such love and happiness of family, that Jim had a special calling for you to be with him in his eternal life.

I am so sorry! I pray for all of the Proebsting family. Doug was a good friend and I am truly in shock at hearing this news just now. God must have needed a great tennis player who was an even better man. I know he will cruise through the Pearly Gates and I hope to see him again.
Thank you Doug for carrying me through doubles matches and sharing your wonderful personality with me and my family. I am so sad! God is great. There is a reason we don't understand. Love for the family!

Total shock on this and a terrible loss again for the family with his brother passing last month just leaving us way too early. Will miss the joy we had giving Bob a hard time about his Marquette and Badger rivals and what an awesome guy and tough on Wendy on the girls in this time. Stay strong and hope Bucky and Red get the wins and keeping the candle lit for Doug to be the 6th man! Such a dedicated employee and great father and wonderful family!
