I was sorry to hear about your loss. I remember Mr. Stamm from church. A lot of people will have good memories of him.

To the family of Lew Stamm,

I am an old school buddy of Lew's. We took art together at Kirkman Vocational High School back in 1953, 54, 55. We once did a vaudeville act together.

He and I had grown somewhat close since my move to Clinton back in 1993. We talked occasionally on the phone and e-mailed each other. I once took a family from our church to meet Him. He was working on a huge mural that was to go in a theater in Florida. He had this monstrous "canvas" hanging in an airport in Sevierville.

Two of the children that I took were aspiring artists and I was trying to encourage them by letting them see a successful artist at work. One of the girls went on to Pensacola Christian College where she majored in Education and Art, and has now earned her Master's Degree. She is serving as a pre-school teacher in an orphanage ran by a missionary family in Honduras, Central America. She supplemented her schooling by painting portraits. In fact she did one of Carol's mother which hangs in her mother's bedroom. I feel Lew's encouragement helped her make up her mind to take art.

Two or three years ago it seems now, that Lew just suddenly stopped communicating with me. No Phone call. No e-mails. His phone was no longer in service. I couldn't find out what happend to him. Did he take sick and was not able to correspond, or...?

I still have two or three photographs of Lew back when we were in school. He was acting goofy, as usual.

Any way, Bill Cowart, the vice president of our senior class back in 1955 sent me Lew's Obituary and wanted to know if he was the Lew Stamm we knew. I informed him that it was indeed Lew.

I pastor a church in Clinton, Tennessee and would have been at the funeral, but I was already committed to another important meeting. I just wanted to tell you all what a wonderful guy Lew was to all of us who loved him. Our memories are all good ones. I haven't "lost" a friend--for I know where he is, and if you know where something is, it isn't lost!

Lew had given me four of his prints back when I lived in Chattanooga. I still have them and they hang in my home.

My heartfelt prayers go out to you all,

Don Dunn

Dear Tiffany and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. But please rejoice....for he is living in the
Glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is difficult to lose our Loved ones I know first hand. But to know that there is no more
suffering and no more sorrow and you too will have a chance to reunite again. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
Your Friend,
