George Vincent Luttrell

Knoxville - George Vincent Luttrell, age 81, of Knoxville, formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday evening, September 27, 2020, surrounded by his three children. George was born December 15, 1939 in Frankfurt, Kentucky. He moved to Oak Ridge twice, first during the time Oak Ridge was a closed city, and then again in grade school, this time for good. He met and married his wife, Martha, in Oak Ridge where they went on to raise their family. George had several hobbies including bowling, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, and mastering the art of his "Dad" sense of humor. His great passion in life, however, was his family. He was devoted to his wife and children, but also to his large extended family of five siblings and ten nieces and nephews. When asked how he wanted to spend a special occasion, he only ever responded that he would like to have a family gathering and man the grill.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Faylene Luttrell; his parents, Bishop and Mary Luttrell; his sisters Sr. Joann Luttrell, O.P. and Mary Luttrell; and his siblings-in-law Dale Klobe and Adele Luttrell. He is survived by his son Christopher Luttrell and his wife Stephi of Oak Ridge; daughter Melissa McGinty of Scottsdale, Arizona; youngest son Vince Luttrell of Knoxville; grandchildren, Selma Adamczyk of Louisville, Kentucky, and Peyton and Mazie McGinty of Scottsdale, Arizona; his great granddaughter Kalicia; his siblings Jane Klobe, John Luttrell, and Robert and Barbara Luttrell.

He is loved and will be missed by all who knew him. A Funeral Mass will be said and a celebration held at a later date to be announced. A short internment service will be held Saturday, October 3, at 12:00pm where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife in the St. Mary's Columbarium in Oak Ridge.
