Susan Bailey Anson June 1952 - August 2018 La Jolla Susan Bailey Anson, artist, adventurer, film-maker, lover of life, passed unexpectedly on Monday, August 27, 2018, at Scripps Memorial Hospital. Loved by many people in many countries, Susan was comfortable on a camel trekking to Timbuktu, skiing from her home in Aspen, hiking to the highest monastery in Tibet, or traveling 3000 miles down the Amazon River from its headwaters. She loved her home in the La Jolla Shores, and did not hesitate to open her doors to friends and strangers alike. Her annual holiday parties are legend. Her presence and her memory will be spoken of by many for as long as they too shall live; and she will also live on through the lives of others to whom she donated her kidneys and other organs.An experienced photographer and artist, her films "Passing Through" and "Boundaries" were great critical and commercial successes. Boundaries won International Awards including the Grand Prize at the Slam Dance Film Festival, 1st Prize at the Las Vegas Film Festival, and 1st Prize at the Taiwan International Film Festival, in total 22 awards.Educated at the Grier School for Women, she then graduated from UCSD with a degree in Fine Arts. She was also a successful business woman. At the time of her death, Susan was semi-retired but remained an equity partner in CONSOR.Susan was born in Washington, DC in June 1952 to Adelaide and Commander Russel E. Bailey, USN. She is survived by her mother; a brother, Warren; her sister, Lori; her niece, Nancy; her children, Adelaide and Adam; and by her husband, Weston.A celebration of life is planned for later in September.
