Uncle Walter. You are the last of the Rohac family that emigrated from the Czech Republic and that is a sad finalization for those of us who came from that line. I am sorry to see you go but am consoled by the fact that you led such an influential life with others. Even in Calgary, I met people my age who came from your home town of Regina and they all recalled "Sgt. Rohac" from their younger days. I still have jokes in my mind which I recall came from you - you always seemed to have some good ones. I want to express my condolences to my cousins, your children Ronnie, Colleen, Linda and Wally (junior).

For a boy growing up w/o a bio-dad, and a step-father that seemed aloof, a positive male mentor is not just important, it is paramount. My Uncle Walter, being just 15 years older, was sometimes my big brother and sometimes my uncle, but most of all he was my guiding light. He counselled me to join the R.C.M.P., helped me to laugh and feel worthy during those tough teen-age years, and showed me the definition on manhood. I watched him host his own TV show for kids on Regina television, saw him lead parades on his shiny motorcycle, and effectively control crowds with his very own brand of personal-touch-sense-of-humour. How could this man not be a super-hero, not just to me and his family, but to countless other lives as well! In life, I'm glad I was able to say thank you to him, for my life.

My condolences to Wally's family. I have many memories of this kind and generous man: being a chaperone to all of us in the Regina Police Boys Band; teaching me traffic control and playing the spoons at my police college graduation; mentoring and coaching me at the Regina Police Service; and spending time reminiscing with me at his last mess dinner. Our lives are richer for having had you in them. Godspeed my friend.

I think I was around 5years old when I met this big presence of a guy. His personality was warm and reminded me of my Dad, very jovial and easy going. He insisted that I call him Sarge and not Grandpa. And while that all made sense way back when (sitting in his Police uniform) I look back and think, Grandpa would have been more acceptable. He welcomed me into the family from that first day and never looked back. From holidays to summer camping or just hanging out playing in the backyard, my memories of him will last a lifetime...So raise your glass, tell a joke and celebrate the life we all remember!
RIP SARGE

Cousins Ron, Colleen, Linda and Wally. My thoughts are with you all on the passing of your Dad. As the youngest sibling of my Mom, I will always remember him as her little brother who she walked miles together (through ice and snow) to attend the one-room school in Loon Lake. A lifetime ago but still part of the family's heritage. Your Dad always enjoyed a good story and a great laugh, something I know you all inherited from him. I will think of him in that light, as someone who smiled a lot and brought happiness and service to others. My thoughts are with you all. Love cousin Karen

I have fond memories of him coming to Arcola School with the safety patrol program and I had the utmost respect for Wally, he was a great police officer and a great man. And even as an adult when we would see each other he always remembered me and we would have the best visits to catch up on what we'd been doing. Please accept our deepest condolences to the Rohac family from the Chisholms. Wally was a great asset to the police service as well as the City Police Boy's band in which he donated countless hours of his time to the band's endeavours. Wally was truly one of the finest traffic officers in the traffic division under my father. It can be said that"Elmer" the Safety Elephant and Wally Rohac are synonymous as one.

The Rohac Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn the loss of your Father. He was a gentleman and a first class police officer. I could not have asked for a better Motorcycle Partner than he while we escorted funerals, the Traveller's Day Parades,The Police Boy's Band at the Moose Jaw Band Festival as well as Governor General J.P. Vanier on his visit to Regina. Wally was a "Class Act" and I am proud to call him my friend. He will be missed.

Fond memories of Cst. Rohac coming out to Herchmer School kindergarten class in the late 1960's to teach students about traffic safety and Elmer the Safety Elephant! Very nice and patient man to deal with that many youngsters! Sorry to learn of his passing.

To the Rohac family, Our sincere condolences in the passing of Wally. I (Shirley) first encountered Wally as a constable coming to our school and talking to us kids regarding safety patrol. Then in adult life I worked, for a period of time, in the Magistrate's Office in the old police station on Hamilton St. Wally was a gem. He was always fun to be around and always had nice things to say. He will definitely me missed by those who knew him. May Wally R.I.P Our Thoughts and prays are with the Rohac family during this sorrowful time.
