Cindy Friedlander Obituary

Cindy Lee
Friedlander
August 1, 1954-
November 5, 2018
Columbus, GA- Cindy Friedlander died in the early morning hours of Monday, November 5, 2018 following a long illness.
She was born in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Peggy Weisenberg and Irwin "Friedy" Friedlander. Her family moved to Columbus in 1960 when her father bought the Matthews Women's Wear stores.
Cindy attended Hardaway High School in 1972 and attended The University of Georgia, after which she worked for several years as a third-generation merchandiser in Atlanta before returning to Columbus to work in the family businesses.
Cindy often told people that her ambition was to be Barbara Walters. She was comfortable under the spotlight and loved to sing and dance. When she was eight years old, with masses of Janice Joplin hair and green Go-Go boots, she regaled a packed family room with a spot-on performance of Woolly-Bully.
When her children were enrolled in Clubview Elementary and Richards Middle School, Cindy was a frequent, valued volunteer. She is survived by those children, Zack (Brandy) Morgan of Anacortes, Washington where he was stationed in the United States Navy, and their sons Myles and Rowan; her daughter, Casey Meyers and her beloved life partner Ira Myers, both of Columbus. She is also survived by nephew, Paul Friedlander and nieces, Leah Friedlander and Kerri Michaels; and several cousins and great-nieces.
Cindy was warm-hearted, generous and very, very funny. She enjoyed nothing more than making people happy and being with her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Judy and Jill and her brother Ken.
Rabbi Beth Swartz will lead a ceremony of remembrance at Temple Israel on Friday at 11am and it is open to all. Her ashes will rest at her family plot in Moultrie, Georgia.

I went to Richards Jr. High and Hardaway High School with Cindy. We were great friends for many years. I loved her mother and have fond memories of attending sleep overs at her parents home, having heart to heart talks with her mother. Cindy was so full of life and had such great ambitions when we were in school. I visited her back in the 90's when I came home to see my folks. My maiden name then was Robin Jacobsen...I knew her sister's and brother and saw what a loving family they were. "Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory."

Dear Friedlander family-----Sallye and I are sorrowful to read of the loss of your dearly beloved Cindy. We remember your family business well and the excellence of it. Either Judy or Jill worked with us at COFFIN AND BRINKLEY law firm. She was very beautiful, very professional, and was a fine asset to our practice. We send our respect and appreciation.
