Vallee Swan Obituary

VALLEE SWAN Vallee Waldo Swan, of Las Vegas, lost her year-long battle with cancer Sept. 29, 2014. Vallee was born Feb. 26, 1951, in San Antonio, and graduated in 1969 from Lamar High School in Houston. She moved with her husband to Las Vegas in 1984, and graduated from UNLV with a degree in accounting in 1990. She worked at Bank of America in Las Vegas as a service manager for 20 years and, most recently, was the controller for a family-owned business. Vallee was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Geneva Waldo; and her stepfather, William Clark. She is survived by her loving husband, of 30 years, Steve; her son, Edward Canterbury of Austin, Texas; and three brothers, Billy of Dallas and Jake and Jack Waldo of Houston. The family will hold memorial services in Galveston, Texas at a later date. The family would like to thank Diti Eliades-Ledstrom and Telly Eliades for their love and kindness during Vallee's battle with cancer. She loved you both.

Thank you Vallee for your years of friendship and love. You touched my life and helped me to see there are good people on earth. I lost my Mom this year and now it's been ten years since you passed. Hard to believe so many years have passed. I have lost a few very important women in my life who has fulfilled roles as big sister and second and third mom. God has put someone new in my life another woman I can look up to is older and helping me in my 12-step program of recovery. I'm grateful for all of my friends but nothing can replace those who are not here anymore. I know you would be very proud of me and Eddie. I look forward to seeing you again one day in heaven. Thank you for your love and friendship. Missing you still...

Vallee and I were childhood friends when we lived on West Bell street in Houston. I remember good times. She and her brother Jack left a purple baby Easter chicken at my front door for Easter...so surprised!!!..We named her "Pecky"...Vallee's family ended up moving and I did not see her again until she came to the dance studio where I taught adult ballet and jazz classes. Many wonderful childhood memories...rest in peace my friend.

Dear Valle thinking about you and the anniversary of your passing. Wow four years hard to believe. This was a great memory. My Three Angels at my salon open house. To the left Bonney Mcweeney my Reiki Master who passed 4/14/2015 and Pandora my Designer to the back and you to the right. I would not have my salon if it were not for you three.I still wear the pearl ring you gave me from your first husband what an honor. And I wore the pear necklace too on a date as I promised, and he wanted to marry me in 6 months. He was not the one, but it worked. I have to be careful what dates I wear it on. LOL. I miss you and Love you and hope your having fun in Heaven. Thanks for watching out for me still, and I try to keep in touch with Eddie. Lots of Love!!!! I will never give up, I will keep believing, I will keep dreaming!

I met Vallee Several years ago, when I was very new in Business. We met when I was opening a Bank account at BOA, she authorized my new checking account, even though she didn't remember doing that. I had some problems and couldn't open an account and she believed in me and authorized it. I remember sitting at her desk, Blonde Hair, suit and warm smile. It must have been about 2003. She later became my regular nail client, I was just 28, or 29. She was my most loyal and longest client at my salon. We became friends over the years, you can't help but not after spending two hours every two weeks with someone for almost ten years. She has been one of my most cherished friends and confidants. She knew everything about my salon and me, and loved me and encouraged me. I am forever grateful for her unconditional love and loyalty. She has touched my life in a way no words can describe. From what I have read I see she had this influence on the people around her. She has been a mentor, friend, and another Mom. She was kind during difficult years, just showing up and listening to me at times for all I went through trying to start a business, she gave me solid advice and support helped me so much. It helped me to go on, when I didn't want to. Thank you Vallee for saving me and my business. I promise to give what you given me to others when I can. I loved her no-nonsense approach and candor about life and people, great cooking, and warm smile, she was always smiling and helped me to not take life so seriously. She became one of my best friends. I got to know her a little outside of work, she came to my house for a few parties, and we saw Absinthe for her Birthday and ate at Serendipity. We laughed the whole show through. I only hope you know how much I loved you and cherished you. I'm so sorry you had to endure such great pain, I don't think it was fair, Only God knows why. My hope is to spare everyone of pain, but that's not possible. Thank you for the time you shared with me, I wish it could be for a lifetime. I will see you in Heaven again. We never talked much about God, but I believe he sent you to me to help me and be my friend when I needed it, You are one of my Earth Angels. I don't want to say goodbye, not this way, but until we meet again, I know you are in God's hand, and you are pain free, full of light and flying with the Angels now. Blessings to your family, to Steve, and Eddy, my heart goes out to them. I promise to never give up, to fight for my life, for my dreams, for those I love and for what is right and just. I promise to let those I love, know I love them. I will never meet another you, in this lifetime, life is so precious and short. Vallee thank you for believing in my and sharing so many wonderful years with me, It has been an honor to know you and to be in your presence. You have been a beautiful example of how to be a loving, loyal and kind friend and a courageous, graceful human being on this winding path of life. Thank You, Best Friend.

I am saddened to read this. Vallee trained me at Bank of America when I was 17. Through her example and high expectations, I was inspired to pursue a career in business and always kept her in mind as one of my early strong female mentors. I haven't worked with her in years, but randomly ran into her three years ago and had a brief chance to tell her how she inspired me. I hope her family and friends are able to find peace and will keep Vallee and them in my thoughts.
