Myrna Malveaux Obituary

Myrna Ruiz Malveaux passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2018. She was the devoted and loving wife of Floyd J. Malveaux, nurturing and motivating mother of Suzette, Suzanne, Courtney and Greg Malveaux, proud grandmother of Nailah, Bennett, Jacob, Richard, Gabriel, and Soleil, and generous friend and colleague to many. A native of New Orleans, Myrna's "joie de vivre" or full-on embrace of life's joys was consummate. Her effervescent personality, nurturing nature, and service touched many. A retired Early Childhood Educator and holder of a Master's degree, she played a significant role in molding the character and developing the minds of hundreds of young children. She contributed to disaster relief efforts in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, gave back to her community church, St. John the Evangelist, and inspired those battling ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Also, she was armed with a strong faith in God and is well-known for her generous and non-judgmental support of family, friends, and oftentimes strangers. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Witzke Funeral Homes, Inc., 5555 Twin Knolls Road, Columbia, MD 21045 on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 28, 10:00am, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at Wildelake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Road, Columbia, MD 21044. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the "Myrna Ruiz Malveaux Endowed Scholarship in Early Childhood Education" at Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans or in her name to an ALS organization (http://webdc.alsa.org) of your choice.
