Michael Donahue Obituary

Michael Donahue died on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at age 56, in Baton Rouge, LA. Beloved husband of Tricia T. Donahue; proud father of Caroline and Molly Donahue; loving son of Nancy N. Donahue and the late James M. Donahue; brother of Debbie Donahue, Anne McCourt (Jim), and Mark Donahue (Jean-Marc Padova); uncle of Kate, Michael, and Jack McCourt; also survived by his beloved yellow Lab, Lily. Michael was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, class of 1984. During his time at Central, at age 16, Michael was diagnosed with his first bout of cancer. He went through two years of chemo and radiation treatments to beat the disease. After graduating from Central, Michael attended Penn State University where he became a member of Delta Chi Fraternity, and as with his days at Central, he formed many lifelong friendships. An avid golfer and fisherman, Michael was also a former member of the P.A.A., where he enjoyed his time playing squash or basketball, as well as the comradery experienced in the Trent Room. On fall weekends, like his father, Michael loved being a part of the Pitt football "chain crew". In the late 1990's, Michael met Tricia Tomeny, a native of Baton Rouge, LA, who was living in Pittsburgh as she attended Duquesne University. The two hit it off immediately and were married in October 2000. They relocated to Baton Rouge where Michael and Tricia welcomed daughters Caroline and Molly and began to raise their family. In the twenty-two years that followed, Michael learned to love Cajun food and LSU football and baseball, established a career as a Vice President of Commercial Lending with BankPlus, and became active in the community. Michael was the past president and an active member of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Baton Rouge. Michael received a second cancer diagnosis at the beginning of September 2022. He was ready to fight and beat it again. Unfortunately, even after a tough fight, the chemo treatments were too much for Michael's body to handle and he died just six weeks after his second diagnosis. Michael will always be remembered as a man with a strong faith in Jesus, as a proud father and husband, and a wonderful friend to many. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 12, 2022, at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church in Baton Rouge, LA. Remembrances may be made to Central Catholic High School or the Baton Rouge Magnet High School Theatre Program, Checks sent to: BRMHS, 2825 Government Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70806. Met Mike years back when he was with IBERIABANK. Mike was the type of person you´d like as soon as you met him. Always had a smile on his face and something nice to say. He cared about others. Gonna miss this guy. Peace and Prayers for the family.

Very saddened and shocked to hear of Mike's passing. Played street hockey with him a lot as a kid. We were all so relieved when he beat cancer the first time. Mike was always smiling and laughing and just being funny. Rest In Peace Michael.

Keeping you in our prayers. As we all know God does not make mistakes eventhough we tend to be selfish and not want to let go. The blessing is you truly have an angel to watch over and protect you. May Jesus keep his comforting and loving arms wrapped around you. God bless.. Jacqueline Powell-White.

I had the pleasure of working with Mike at IBERIABANK in Baton Rouge. He was always so full of energy and positivity! He was constantly sharing pictures of his beautiful daughters, as he was so proud of them. He was a joy to work with and I´m lifting his family in prayer.
