Sister Patricia Daly, OP

Sister Patricia Daly, OP, a Sister of Saint Dominic of Caldwell for 47 years, entered into eternal life on December 9, 2022 at the age of 66 at St. Catherine of Siena Healthcare Center, Caldwell, New Jersey. On Thursday, December 15, a wake and Mass will be held at Saint Aloysius Church, 219 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell, NJ. The wake will be from 9:00 – 10:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Natural burial services will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery on the Motherhouse grounds. For Mass livestreaming see www.proutfuneralhome.com. Sister Pat was a prayerful and compassionate woman who credited her parents, Joseph and Anne Daly for fostering her deep and abiding faith. She entered the Sisters of Saint Dominic on September 7, 1975, received the habit on June 5, 1976, made first profession on February 25, 1978 and final profession on June 30, 1984. Sister Pat earned a BA in Religious Studies from Sacred Heart University, CT, an MA in Theology of Justice from the Maryknoll School of Theology, NY and certification in Spiritual Direction from the Center for Spirituality & Justice, NY. Sister was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws from William Paterson University, NJ and an Honorary Doctorate in Business Leadership from Duquesne University, PA. Sister Pat began her ministry as a teacher of religion, social justice and morality at St. Mary High School, Rutherford, NJ and at St. Dominic Academy, Jersey City, NJ, prior to serving as an associate campus minister, justice and peace coordinator and adjunct instructor at St. Peter's University, Jersey City. Sister Pat was known to many in the Dominican Family and around the world as a fierce champion for social and climate justice via responsible investment. She was Director of Socially Responsible Investment and Corporate Responsibility with Christian Brothers Investment Services, Program Director of Genesis Farm and consultant for Food & Water, Inc. and the Dominican Sisters of Hope. Sister Pat was a long-time shareholder advocate and Executive Director of Tri-State Coalition for Responsible Investment (now known as Investor Advocates for Social Justice). She led an alliance of Roman Catholic institutional investors to use their power as shareholders to hold corporations accountable to social and environmental concerns. Since 1977, Sister Pat served as the representative for Corporate Responsibility and Impact Investing for the Caldwell Dominicans. Recognized for her work in systematic and economic justice and community service, Sister was given the Woman of the Year Award from St. Peter's University and from the American Baptist Home Mission Societies; an Individual Achievement Award from the Business Ethics Network in Washington, D.C.; an Honors Award for her 24 years with the Tri-State Coalition for Responsible Investment; and the St. Katherine Drexel National Justice Award from the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. Committed to the mission of the Dominican Sisters, Sister Pat proclaimed the Word of God through her ministry for justice. The strength of her convictions was clear and steadfast. Sister was predeceased by her father, Joseph Daly. She is survived by her devoted mother, Anne Therese (nee Trust) Daly; her cherished siblings, Jeanne Randazzo (Frank), Michael Daly, Ellen Daly and Kathleen Daly; her aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, nephews, grand-niece and grand-nephew, friends; and her loving Sisters of Saint Dominic.
