Our whole Purpura family remembers many fond years of the Doyle family on Oakstone. I especially recall in the early years that a bell would be rung at dinner time to round up the Doyle kids. Far more civilized than my family who was more than likely screaming out the door for a sibling! Joan was a strong woman and had to live without the support of her husband for many years. I remember waving to Joan often when visiting my parents as she took one of her many walks in the neighborhood. She was always so good at staying active. I was sad when I heard that she fell at Morningside while using the stairs and than had to be moved to the higher care facility there. I recall many times seeing Brian at Mass both at St. Norbert's and then later at St. Juliana's with his Mom. Truly a testament to her deep love of her Catholic faith and a son's devotion to his mom. I was able to attend her funeral Mass today and the plan was to bring my parents, Terry and Lou. My dad, however, experienced one of his many blood pressure episodes this morning and therefore my parents were unable to attend. It was nice to see you all from the back pew and Michael did a wonderful job speaking about his mother on behalf of the family. I wanted to go up and say something to the family after the service but noticed Fr. discouraging gatherings due to COVID19. If one of you could please email me an address, I would love to send a Mass card in honor of for your mom. Our sincere sympathy! Mary Purpura-Glasser (Lou, Terry. Patty, Bill, Marty, Mary, John and Laurie Purpura)
