There isn't anyone that was a greater influence in my adult academic life than Dr. Harriette P. McAdoo. Greatly missing my friend, my mentor and advisor.

It is still difficult to take in this unexpected loss. I keep thinking of her sweet smile that always greeted me whenever we visited. We will all miss Harriette for a very long time.

I have many fond memories of meetings at Harriette and John's house while pledging AKA at MSU. Harriette was always such an inspiration to all of us, particularly minority undergraduates. She will always be in our hearts.

Sincere condolences to Harriette's family. Harriette and I became friends (and sorors) at Michigan State in the early 1960s. We stayed in touch off and on through the decades, so I have countless memories of a wonderful person who was as sweet and sincere in our last conversation as she was in our first.

A great loss to the African American community and community at large. Her scholarly works on positive aspects of Black family life have been most influential to me and many others. She will be sorely missed; her great works will live on for many years to come.

Dr. McAdoo made a significant difference in my life and greatly influenced the K-12 academic decisions for my children. She was my friend, my lifelong mentor and advisor. I shall certainly miss Dr. Harriette McAdoo.
