August 13, 1924 - January 18, 2019
Warner Robins, GA- Edward "Ed" McCurry, 94, passed away Friday morning, January 18, 2019, at Hospice of Savannah in Savannah, Georgia. A funeral service we be held Monday, January 21, 2019 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Minter Cemetery in Rockledge, Georgia at 3:00PM. Dr. Bob Dilkes will officate.
Ed McCurry was born August 13, 1924 in Milton, Georgia to the late Wade and Mintoya McCurry. Ed proudly served his country in the Army Air Force. He went on to work civil service at Robins Air Force Base where he later retired after many years. Ed was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a member of the Joyner Bible Class. One of his great passions was being a part of the Freemasons as a Past Master at the Tyrian Lodge #111 of Warner Robins in 1960. Ed was a former staff member at Christopher-Smith Funeral Home and Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. In his spare time, Ed loved spending time out in his workshop doing woodworking and piddling with anything he could get his hands on. He also loved to fish and basically just being outdoors. Ed was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, along with his son, Terry McCurry; two brothers, Wade and Lee Roy McCurry and two sisters, Geneva Chatham and Ollie May Brady. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Fay McCurry, of Warner Robins; son, Randy (Carla) McCurry of Rincon; grandson, Stephen (Michelle) McCurry; two great grandsons, Colton and Wyatt McCurry and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Central Baptist Church or the Masonic Home of Georgia, 1417 Nottingham Dr., Macon, Ga. 31211. Please go to www.heritagemfh.com and sign the guest registry.
