Carol Haley Obituary

Carol G. (Mawhinney) Haley, 66 AUBURN -- Carol G. (Mawhinney) Haley, 66, of Auburn, formerly of Norway, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at the Hospice House in Auburn after a courageous battle against cancer, with her loving family by her side. She was born on Oct. 5, 1942, the daughter of Cecil and Eileen (Gammon) Mawhinney. Carol grew up in Norway; attended Norway High School and graduated from Norway High School in 1961. She married Michael H. 'Mike' Haley in 1961. Carol spent many years as a secretary; employed at University of Maine Admissions Office, Waterville Supt. of Schools Office, MCI Admissions Office, and Paris Manufacturing Company Office. She retired after 25 years as a Customer Service Representative at ONE-Right Systems in Lewiston. Carol was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was loved by all who knew her thoughtfulness and kindness. She is survived by her husband Mike of Auburn; children Rhonda of Windham, Michele and Partner Irene of Wells, and Michael and wife Cheryl of Kennebunk; sister Betty and Husband Bill Jordan of Mt. Abram, brother Douglas Mawhinney and wife Donna of Norway; sisters-in-law Donna Stacy of Augusta and Sue Bouchard and partner Rick Kearly of Norway; four grandchildren, Emiliy and Jack Mallis of Windham, Sam and Clare Haley of Kennebunk; nine nieces and nephews, Kyle and Tim Jackson of Skowhegan, Leslie Hennessey of South Paris, Kelly Pike of Waterford, Corri Bylsma of Bangor, Chris Mawhinney of Norway, Robyn Savage of Auburn, Matt Stacy of Windham and Denise Turner of South Paris, and nieces Amy and Jessica Turner. She was predeceased by her father and mother and a sister Sherrill Delucia. Heartfelt thanks to doctors and nurses at CMMC ICU, Oncology and Hospice House for their excellent end of life care. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, July 31, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main St. Rte. 26, Oxford. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of South Paris located on Lower Main Street in South Paris. Reception to follow the services downstairs in the church. Interment will take place following the reception at Lakeview Cemetery in Norway. I was sorry to hear about your wife, Carol. My thoughts are with you, as well as with Rhonda, Michele and Michael. I am sure they don't remember me babysitting them, as they were young, but I wanted you to know my thoughts are with you all.
