William Reid Obituary
William Will J. Reid, 26, of Philadelphia, formerly of Lopatcong Township, and his loving wife, Jamie Soukup Reid, 25, also of Philadelphia, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013, in Asheville, NC as a result of an auto accident. Will was born November 2, 1986 the son of Dr. James and Anne (Myers) Reid of Lopatcong Township. Jamie Soukup Reid was born April 14, 1988 in the western suburbs of Chicago. In 1990, when Jamie was 2, her family moved to the Seattle area, where she grew up in the city of Sammamish, WA. Will and his beloved wife, Jamie, were married in a joyous, unique, and wonderful service in Philadelphia on May 26, 2013. He was a math teacher with People for People Charter School in Philadelphia. Will was the Valedictorian for Phillipsburg High School Class of 2005. He received a BA degree from Dartmouth College and Masters of Education degree from University of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed running, skiing, and reading. Jamie attended (and loved) Whitman College, in Walla Walla, WA, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2010. Following graduation, she moved to Philadelphia to join Teach For America. Jamie taught writing and literature to 7th graders in some of the toughest inner city Philadelphia schools. She also earned a masters degree in Urban Education from the University of Pennsylvania, and she and Will graduated together in May, 2012. Survivors: In addition to his loving parents; Will is survived by a brother, Patrick; and a sister, Leslie, both at home. In addition to her loving parents, Ron and Kay Soukup of Sammamish, WA; Jamie is survived by her older sister, Kelly Soukup Lyman; and brother-in-law, David Lyman; and her grandmother, Mary Snyder; as well as aunts and uncles, Robert and Lynn Soukup of Naperville, IL, Cynthia Snyder of Seattle, WA, Sibylle and Larry Horvath of Crown Point, IN, and Evelyn and Kriss Peters of Graham, WA. Services: Memorial funeral services for Will and Jamie will be held Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 12 p.m. (Noon) in Doyle-Devlin Funeral Home, Inc., 695 Corliss Ave., Phillipsburg, NJ. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 a.m to time of services in the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered at www.devlinfh.com. Mr reid . I had you as a math teacher in Lincoln highschool. I would hope that you remember me. I suddenly left without many people knowing why, well it was because I was pregnant. That's why I fell asleep a lot during class. But you were a great teacher.. I still managed to keep an A+ in your class. Which is rare for me because I told you math was my worst subject. I can not believe this...it's actually ridiculous to think something like this could ever happen. Rest in peace to you and your wife. I feel a bit strange, but as I'm the same age, from near Pburg, love NPR too, and have many good friends who participated and met wonderful partners through Teach for America, I just wanted to offer my condolences as well. Will and Jamie seem like such a pair of talented and caring young teachers, and I only wish that their legacy goes on through all they touched, especially through the students they taught in Philadelphia. I feel so many parallells between us-I'm also getting married Memorial Day weekend, in an unconventional ceremony/reception venue all in one place, and we will be going to Montreal on our honeymoon too. I will always do my best from now forward to not take life for granted and honor all those who are near and dear in respect of Will and Jamie's memory. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I knew Will as my colleague at PFP charter school and am deeply sad that he, and his wife, will no longer be with us.
Will was a wonderful person whom I will now miss the chance to get to know better. When I first met him I remember noticing what a genuinely good guy he was.
Despite our short time working together, Will always modeled the best attitude and professionalism to us all.

We were with Will and Jamie for just one day, at the wedding of Jamie's sister, Kelly, and our son, David. Will and Jamie had an aura of a beautiful newlywed couple embarking confidently on a bright future. They were very impressive people, even seeing them for such a short time. My heart is truly broken today! Will was teacher at the People for People Charter School where I volunteered a few days a week. He was one of the few teachers who sat and ate with the children everyday...I always rewarded him with special sandwiches and Kielbasa when I brought it in...He truly loved these kids...and he will be missed...
