MAXINE SILVA
NOVEMBER 27, 1930 - OCTOBER 19, 2014
Maxine Silva passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side after a brief illness.  She was born on Thanksgiving Day in Atwater, CA to Manuel (Bud) and Evelyn Faria.  She remained in the Livingston/Atwater area her entire life.
She graduated from Livingston High School with the class of 1948 where she played saxophone in the school band, was a yell leader and was involved in many clubs and organizations.  After graduation she married the love of her life, Louie Silva and began working for Farmers Insurance until changing to the healthcare profession working for numerous doctors until retiring with the County of Merced Mental Health.
After retirement, Louie and Maxine enjoyed traveling in their RV with the Roaming Elks, volunteered at Elmer Wood School where all 3 of their grandsons attended and delivered Meals on Wheels.  Maxine was always knitting, crocheting, quilting or painting and was always up for a card or bingo game.  She was also proud of being a 5-time cancer survivor.
Maxine was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church where she proudly served as a Eucharistic minister.  She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, member of the Catholic Daughters, Young Ladies' Institute and numerous Portuguese organizations.
She is preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Louie, her parents, brothers and sister's-in-law, Ralph and MaryJean Faria and Richard & Bonnie Faria and beloved nephew Craig Faria.
Maxine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Luann & Paul Rivas, grandson's Cory (fiancé Brandi), Jayme (granddaughter-in-law Jody), Joshua, and Micha, great grandsons; Michael, Cruz & Evan and very special nieces & nephews who she loved very much.  Also surviving are her adopted families: Greene, Nord and Quevedo families.  Sincere thanks goes to Ken Miller at MFA, 7th floor staff at Mercy Hospital and the entire staff at Anberry Rehabilitation Hospital that made her last year of life one of quality & dignity & filled with so much happiness.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 4PM at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel, 1290 Winton Way, Atwater with the Recitation of the Holy Blessed Rosary at 6:00 PM.  Funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church at 10 AM with Father Tom Timmings officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Maxine to St. Anthony Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are entrusted to Wilson Family Funeral Chapel of Atwater.
