Harold William Saltus Jr., 86, of East Hampton, CT, husband of the late Barbara (Ronna) Saltus, passed away at Douglas T. Jacobson State Veterans Nursing Home in Port Charlotte, FL December 20, 2020. Born in Burlington, VT, he was the son of the late Harold William and Evelyn Rose (Boutin) Saltus Sr. of East Hampton. He was predeceased by his brother Richard F. Saltus of East Hampton, CT. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea and in the Army National Guard of Connecticut. He attended the University of Hartford and the University of Connecticut. He was the manager of LynnGrace of Middletown, Manager/Owner of The Cobide Company and H & B Industries in Cobalt, CT. He was also an officer in the Connecticut State Police/D.E.P for 20 years. Harold enjoyed skiing, sailing, fishing, and playing card games with family and friends. He also loved walking through the mall with his wife of 28 years holding her hand. He was a member of the Shoreline Sailing Club and Captain of his boat Tonic. He and his crew, "The Angles" would sail and vacation in the British Virgin Islands. Harold is survived by his four children Harold William Saltus III of Madison, WI, Cynthia Saltus of Naples, FL, Deborah Butler of Lusby, MD and Desiree Faehr of Theilheim, Germany along with eight grandchildren: Tyler, Ethan, and Justin Shaw, Jessica, Grayson, Weston, and Nathen Butler; Ashley Faehr, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother Robert A Saltus Sr. and wife Gail of East Hampton, CT. A Memorial Service is being held at Saint Sebastian Cemetery in Middlefield, CT on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 12:30 p.m.
