Charles Edwin Lowe Jr.

Charles Edwin Lowe Jr., 92, of Newington, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026. Born to the late Charles Edwin Lowe Sr. and Lois Ruth Hartman Lowe, Charlie grew up in Wethersfield and later raised his family in West Hartford. He spent many years in Newington, which he proudly called home and where he remained a longtime resident.
He was a graduate of The Loomis School, Class of 1951, Bryant College and the University of Connecticut. He owned and operated Lowe Manufacturing, first in Simsbury, then in Newington, for many years.
Charlie was deeply committed to service and community. He was a founding member of the Newington Rotary Club, joining in 1960, and remained dedicated to its mission of fellowship and giving throughout his life. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner.
He leaves behind his beloved children, Peter Lowe and his wife Julie, and Deborah Gilles and her husband David; his cherished grandchildren, Valerie, Benjamin, Samuel, Brian, Christopher, and Adam; and his great-grandson, Adriano, with another great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Lowe Redfield, as well as nieces Pamela, Jennifer, Susanna, and Elizabeth, and nephew Daniel. Charles was predeceased by his brother, Peter Warburton Lowe, and his sister, Judith Lowe Plourde.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Avenue, Newington.
A memorial service will be held at Lifeway Church, 2172 Berlin Turnpike, Newington on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow at Casa Mia Hawthorne 2421 Berlin Turnpike, Berlin. Private burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery.
