I often think of the times that our families spent together when my Dad and your Dad were taking the CFL by storm. I have fond memories of times spent in Magog in later years. Maybe they are throwing the ball together even now......

Our deepest condolences go out to Sam's wife Sinikka,the kids Steve,Mike,Nancy and Jen.I am old enough to actually have seen Sam play.The precision of his throwing arm truly was like a rifle.Having come from a country where soccer is king I was fascinated by how far and how accurate he could throw a football.Joan and I met Sam and the family for the first time at Jen and Bob's wedding.The memories of those three days will stay with us for ever.Sam was a class act and he passes that on to his kids.It is now your turn to carry the torch.
Much love to all of you;
Lou and Joan(Neudecker)

My sincere condolences to the entire Etcheverry family. Although I didn't Sam personally, I had many great years watching Sam, the "Rifle", play for the Montreal Alouettes and later when he coached the team. They were indeed the glory years for Montreal - never to be forgotten.
Thanks for the memories, Sam.

As a die-hard Alouette fan, Sam "the Rifle" was an icon! My dad used to take me to the games, including the ones in Ottawa. Sam Etcheverry represented the glory days of football in the CFL. Thanks for the memories.

Thank you Sam for your leadership and service. As a point of reference I dreamed of being able to throw like he could while a youngster playing Pop Warner, never could! I met Sam while a student at McGill at a Macdonalds- we had a coffee and he was an incredible gentleman. That was a life lesson. Our sincere condolences to the family.

My condolences to the Etcheverry family. In 1970, I became a Montreal Alouettes fan and remain one to this day. The excitement of that season I will never forget with the Grey Cup victory. Met Steve and Jim at Bishop's in the mid seventies both good guys that I wished I could have known better.
Sincerely

My deepest sympathies to the Etcheverry family, I had the pleasure of being a Larkette (Montreal Alouette Majorette) in the early 70's when Sam was coaching and got to go 'up to the cottage' a few times, we had so much fun. At a recent Larkette reunion (this past Saturday to be exact) we were looking at old photos, laughing and remembering, we raised a glass to Sam at the time we did not know of his passing. Later on in the 70's I worked with him at Greenshields, he was a gem, a gentleman, an all round great guy. I'll remember him fondly.

Sympathies to the family. Almost 50 years go Sam agreed to travel to Cornwall Ontario to be guest speaker at our sports banquet. At the end he said "So remember,if you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter". We roared and got to meet the great Sam Echeverry. What a guy!!

To the Etcheverry Family, My deepest sympathies to all of you. My memories go back to Sam as a player and coach. I was lucky enough to get to know and work with Sam while working as an assistant trainer with the Montreal Alouettes in the late 60's and early 70's. He was a classy gentleman, and will be missed.
