Anthony " Tony" L. Risoli

Anthony " Tony" L. Risoli, 90, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Born and raised in South Plainfield, Tony has been a lifelong resident of the boro. He also enjoyed spending time in Ortley Beach and Florida. A carpenter by trade for his entire life, Tony served in the United States Navy during WWII. He served in the Construction Battalion (C.B.'s) with a hard working unit that was awarded the Presidential Letter of Commendation for their work in Iceland and the South Pacific prior to his discharge in 1946. After his return home from service, he worked for many years at J.D. Loizeaux Lumber Co. of Plainfield as a Master Carpenter. He went out on his own 1960 as a self-employed Carpenter and assisted his brothers in the family business, Ribro Brothers. He was a member of the Carpenters Local Union 155 and a parishioner of Sacred Heart RC Church. Tony was a Life and Charter member of the South Plainfield VFW Memorial Post #6763 in South Plainfield and also served as the post commander. He will be remembered as a dear brother, loving father and devoted husband.

Predeceased by his brothers, Al, Nick and Patsy, he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elvira ( nee, De Christofano), his five children, Rosemarie Danchik and her husband, Rick of Lehigh Acres, Florida, Linda Ward and her husband, Dave of Alva, Florida, James and his wife Wendy of Convers, Texas, Thomas and his wife Kelle of Canton, Georgia and Ronald of South Plainfield. Seven grandchildren; Michael Risoli, Matthew Danchik, Jessica Hilms, Beth Peterson, Owen Ward, Noemi Ward, and Michael Ward.

Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 9:15 Am in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield NJ 07080 www.mccriskinfuenralhome.com followed by a 10 AM funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
