Adele Marie Rivet

RIVET Adele Marie Rivet on Thursday, January 26, 2011. Age 91 years. Ms. Rivet was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She graduated from L'Academie du Sacre Coeur, and attended Ursuline College, and remained supportive of those institutions throughout her life. She was employed by Thomas J. Moran's Sons, Inc., the Kalvar Corporation and the law firm of Rivet & Rivet. She served as personal secretary to Robert J. Fabacher and on the library staffs of Ursuline Academy and Loyola University. She was a member of the Children of Mary of the Rosary Sodality and served as president, recording secretary, and member of the board of directors. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Mater Dei 868. She was awarded the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion for her devotion to the work of the Catholic Church throughout the Archdiocese of New Orleans. She also served on the board of the Roasry Sacred Heart Alumnae. Ms. Rivet was the oldest child of the late Elma Marie Landry and Charles Joseph Rivet, Esq. Her two brothers, Judge Charles Landry Rivet and Hilton Landry Rivet, S.J., also predeceased her. She is survived by one sister, Mary Anna Rivet Miranne; one niece, Arianne Marie Rivet Danforth of Rocklin, CA; four nephews, Charles Grenier Rivet, Esq., Pierre Grenier Rivet, MD of San Diego, Randolph Grenier Rivet of San Diego, and Edmond Ganucheau Miranne, Jr., Esq. of Atlanta. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation from 10:00 AM until service time.
