Alan Sporn Obituary

Alan David Sporn was born on October 15, 1945. He passed away peacefully the morning of March 29, 2021. He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Barbara. He is survived by his children Laurie (Arlyn Tratt), Bonnie (Benjy Fine), Gary (Sara Berkowitz), and Jeffrey, grandsons Brayden and Quinn Tratt, Teddy Fine and granddaughter Alice Fine, Alan is also survived by his sister Rebecca Sporn and sisters-in-law Debbie (Gary Lindon) and Monica (Rich Magid). His parents Walter and Fern Sporn and In-laws Ludwig and Eva Hofman preceded him in passing. He was a loving uncle, great uncle, and cousin, and a special friend to Eileen. First and foremost, Alan's love for his family was the most important. There were phone calls each and every day to his children and grandchildren. Weekends were spent spoiling his family. His 48+ year marriage to Barbara was full of traveling the world and spending time with family and friends. Alan grew up in Jeffery Manor, on the south side of Chicago, went to Bradley University and earned his MBA at DePaul. He married Barbara in 1969 and they had 4 children. In 1985 Alan became the owner and president of Spornette International. The business flourished and became one of the top hairbrush companies in the professional beauty industry. In promoting his company, Alan traveled to all of the 7 continents and over 50 countries. Alan made friends where ever he went -- in school, traveling and through work. He left a warm and loving impression on everyone he met, even if it was for just a brief meeting. He did not know a stranger. Alan was so generous with his time and love. He was a very loyal friend, a mentor, and a philanthropist. To honor Alan please do something nice for someone or reach out to an old an old friend. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, services will be private. Funeral service to be live streamed on the Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home web site, www.weinsteinandpiserfuneralhome.com on Wednesday, March 31, at 9:00 am. For information 847-256-5700.
