Al was a great leader of boys. He had a huge impact on my son when he was in Troop 133. Al was smart, hardworking, and a great friend. I still remember him fondly.

I worked for Al as his Assistant the entire time that he worked at Goulston. I respected him so very much and I know that he was a meek and also very wise man. It was such a great joy to work for him and he was definitely a great boss and friend. I was sad when he decided to retire from Goulston but I was also very happy for him. He loved life, God and his family. He loved being a Scout Leader too.
So thankful that I got to talk to Al several weeks ago on the phone. I'm going to truly miss him.

Very saddened to hear of Al's passing. He was a strong supporter of the scouts and made an impact in many lives. An encourager, mentor and friend to those of us who grew up in Troop 133 at Sardis Presbyterian. Taking on the roll of Scout Master to volunteer many years of his time speaks highly of his willingness to serve others and raise a generation. Thank you Al and family, prayers and best wishes, until we meet again.

If you are lucky in life you get a mentor like Al Cowan. Those of us who were in Troop 133 were blessed to have him as our leader. Words cannot express the influence he continues to have on the lives of all the young men in our Troop. The wisdom, patience, dedication and love that he showed is something I strive to show my children everyday. Even though I haven't talked to him in nearly 20 years, I still feel a profound loss knowing that he has passed. The world is a better place because of Big Al.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Cowan. He was a truly exceptional Scoutmaster, and instilled strong values and ideals in the many, many lessons he taught myself and the other scouts of Troop 133. "May the Great ScoutMaster of all true Scouts go with you and lead you on Troop trails, until we meet again. Be Prepared." RIP..Mr. Cowan

It was a privilege to work with Al, and to know him as more than a co-worker. We used to chat about life's issues; as he offered much wisdom. I am a better person for having known Al.

I have always admired Al's self discipline (camping in all types of weather (including snow), eating VERY healthy lunches, but most of all his concern for others and his great sense of humor. Great friend and coworker.

I worked with Al at Goulston for a number of years. He was a great guy and always willing to pitch in and help. A group of us used to eat lunch together in the break room and his wisdom with regards to work and life were greatly appreciated.

I enjoyed many fine conversations with Al while working together at Goulston Technologies, Inc. We particularly enjoyed talking about Scouting and camping. He was a great friend and I remember him often.
